The exercise apparatus can further include spring assemblies that increase the kinetic load during downward movements of the slidable weight bar assembly. Alternatively, the spring assemblies can be incorporated into exercise apparatus having a slidable weight bar assembly without the hand brake system.

The stanchion is fitted with a cap ring at the upper end and a number of loops in the middle section thereof.
