摘要： A gripping device for a horse's hoof to provide improved grip to the surface on which the hoof contacts, and a method therefor. The gripping device comprises an elastomeric or polymeric material integrally molded to a gripping plate whereby to form a pad and a surface gripping section that extends upwardly from the plate and in part above the pad. The gripping device spreads shock and concussive forces evenly through the device, distributing pressure over the entire surface of the hoof. The present device provides traction protection and has therapeutic shoeing applications. The present device may be used in conjunction with a hospital plate which overlies an injury to the hoof wherein the elastomeric or polymeric material is cut out at the wound and overlies same, the hospital plate fitting into the cut out portion.

Washers are embedded in the resilient material and horseshoe nails extend through the washers and the holes when the horseshoe is fastened to a horse's hoof. A portion of the horseshoe adapted to bear on the hoof comprises a plate against which the resilient material adheres. The washers abut the plate and are horizontally movable relative thereto, and the holes in the plate have a larger cross section than the nail, such that the nail is capable of moving horizontally together with the washers during loading of the horse's hoof.

摘要： A horseshoe utilizes reinforced belting material as padding. In certain embodiments, the reinforced belting material is cut to a certain depth in selected locations and the belting material may be removed along the layers of reinforcing material. A truncated toe portion of a horseshoe is adhesively bonded to the turf side of the toe portion of the pad. The reinforcing material provides lateral stability to the padding allowing a thicker pad with the same stability. A new use is provided for used or seconds belting material for the economical production of improved horseshoes. The padding may also be molded from rubber or plastic with a turf side of the toe portion recessed to accommodate the truncated horseshoe.

摘要： The invention defines a non-slip, shock-absorbing, cushioned horseshoe that substantially absorbs the shock encountered by a horse's hooves and legs when the horse is running or jumping. The cushioned horseshoe is defined by a base or mounting plate which is adapted with a plurality of boss members having locking holes, and a ground-engaging sole or body member that includes openings which are aligned with the locking holes of the mounting plate so as to receive and lock nails that are driven therein. The sole member consists of a wear-resistant, resilient material that is fixedly secured to the mounting plate for direct engagement with the ground surface. The resilient material is molded to the lower surface of the mounting plate and is received in a V-shaped channel having securing holes disposed therein, whereby the resilient material becomes fixedly secured to the lower mounting surface of the mounting plate during the molding process to prevent separation therefrom.

The body is open at one end and has means at the opposite end for limiting the extend to which the body can be placed on the heel end of a horseshoe. The inner surface of the body will frictionally engage the outer surface of the heel of the horseshoe. A nail can be driven into and through the shoe and into the hoof of the horse. The body can have a projection thereon and integral therewith. In one version, the projection is between the ends of the body and in another version, the projection is near the closed end of the body. The projections give added traction required for muddy or grassy surfaces. In another version of the sock body, the normally lower wall of the body can be wedge-shaped to elevate the heel of the horse in case the hoof surface has been worn or rasped down too much.
