摘要： The present invention is based, in part, on our discovery that certain types of therapeutic agents can be used in combination to treat a variety of neuropsychiatric and related disorders, including addiction (e.g., to a substance or to an activity) as well as to alleviate some of the symptoms experienced during menopause or associated with the menstrual cycle. Regardless of the precise formulation, the compositions of the invention can include at least one active ingredient that targets the hypothalamopituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and at least one active ingredient that targets the prefrontal cortex. Either or both of these types of agents can be combined with an agent that inhibits activity in the sympathetic nervous system. Thus, the compositions or combination pharmacotherapies can also include an agent that inhibits a beta-adrenergic receptor or that otherwise acts as an anti-hypertensive or anxiolytic agent.

摘要： Expression of the E4 orf 1 gene of Ad-36 alone has been discovered to be responsible for the increased insulin sensitivity observed in Ad-36 infected animals, including increased adipogenesis. Ad-36 E4 orf 1 protein can be used to increase insulin sensitivity and ameliorate diabetes. Additionally, drugs that mimic the action of Ad-36 E4 orf 1 protein could be found. Ad-36 E4 orf 1 could also be used to increase fat cells in lipodystrophy. We have also discovered that Ad-36 infection in human skeletal muscle cells increased differentiation and insulin independent glucose uptake. It is expected that infection with Ad-36 E4 orf 1 gene will also cause these effects.

The waist chain is positioned tightly around the waist of a person such that as the person's weight increases, the waist chain becomes increasingly tight. Presented in another embodiment is a weight loss method comprising altering a person's food intake such that the person experiences weight loss; fitting the person tightly with a waist chain such that as the person's weight increases, the waist chain becomes increasingly tight. The waist chain comprises a plurality of links; a plurality of coupling members which connect the plurality of links, thereby forming a chain with two ends; at least one end connection member which is connectable to both of the ends of the chain such that the chain becomes continuous.
