    • A sliding assisting apparatus assists a movable body to move between a drawn-out position and a drawn-in position. The apparatus includes a unit main body to be attached to a main body or the movable body, and a pair of strikers to be attached to the main body or movable body. The unit main body includes a pair of sliders slidably disposed inside a case, lock members movably supported on the respective sliders, coupling parts provided on the case for engaging the lock members, and an urging device provided between the sliders for accumulating a force when the sliders slide away from the other. One striker switches one slider between a case restrained position in which one coupling part engages one lock member and a case restraint released position in which the one coupling part releases the one lock member.

    • A molding for mounting in a gap between an outer periphery and a window frame of an automobile is disclosed. The molding is formed of a length of material having first and second pillar sections extending into corner sections, the corner sections being interconnected via a roof section. A cross-section of the molding includes a leg portion and a head portion extending therefrom, the head portion having a parasol-shape and overhanging the leg portion. A glass lip projects from a first side of the leg portion, the molding being configured to receive an outer periphery of the front glass between the glass lip and a lower surface of the head portion. Additionally, a panel lip projects from a second side of the leg portion, the panel lip being adapted to elastically abut and engage the window frame of the automobile. Further, a groove lip extends over a length of each of the pillar portions, and projects from the upper surface of the head portion. The groove lip is formed of a material different from the other components of the molding, but is integrally extruded with the other components.

    • A latching device for a vehicle comprises a hollow casing having open front and rear ends, a latching member supported for sliding motion within the casing so as to protrude through the open front end of the casing, biasing means for biasing the latching member toward the open front end so that the latching member protrudes outside through the open front end of the casing, a locking mechanism capable of locking the latching member at a locking position within the casing against the biasing force of the biasing means and of unlocking the latching member when the latching member is pushed from the locking position against the biasing force of the biasing means to an unlocking position within the casing, and a safety mechanism capable of preventing the disengagement of the locking mechanism by inertia. The locking mechanism comprises a locking lever that engages a heart-shaped cam groove formed in the latching member, and the safety mechanism comprises a movable member pivotally supporting the locking lever, supported for sliding movement within the casing and capable of moving in the direction of movement of the latching member by inertia, and spring means for biasing the movable member toward the latching member.

    • A molding for a front glass mounted continuously, from right and left front pillar portions to a roof portion, to a gap between a peripheral portion of a front glass of a vehicle and a window frame of a body of the vehicle. The molding has a groove lip which is formed of a different material than a material of a leg portion, a head portion, a glass lip and a panel lip, and which extends over a predetermined length from a lower portion to an upper portion of the front pillar portion. The extended length of the groove lip becomes gradually shorter and disappears over a corner portion of the upper portion of the front pillar portion and the roof portion. The leg portion, the head portion, the glass lip, the panel lip and the groove lip are integrally extrusion-molded. The entire sectional configuration does not deform at a portion whose cross-section is changed, and high adhesion of the molding to the front glass can be maintained.
