    • The cable sleeve permits lateral insertion of cables into cable insert parts. The cable insert parts are located within a pair of spaced sleeve heads interconnected by a tubular shaped supporting jacket. The assembled cable sleeve is enclosed within a plastic shrunk-on hose. Cable insert parts are connected to the sleeve heads and axially extending slots are provided through the sleeve heads into the cable insert parts. Similarly, the supporting jacket is split in the axial direction and the plastic hose has an axially extending slot with the juxtaposed edges of the slot being closable in a known manner after it is placed about the supporting jacket and sleeve heads.

    • The press has a basically C-shaped frame with a base plate (10), table (13), two side cheeks (11), and a head plate (12). A guiding body (20) which is arranged on the table between the two side walls without connection with the column cheeks loaded by the pressing force or with the upper part of the press is provided for guiding the box-shaped slide (30). The pressing force is initiated by a pressure-medium cylinder on the head plate. The piston rod (47) of the pressure-medium cylinder is coupled with two articulated levers (60) which are connected in turn at a side cheek (11) via guide rods (43). The two driving levers (60) are connected with the slide via two connecting rods (40). A column damping arrangement with two columns (50) has an upper part (52) connected with the cover plate, a lower part connected with the table, and a damping cylinder piston (51) acting therebetween. In the case of an off-center loading in the longitudinal direction of the slide, a one-sided expansion of the die space is compensated for by displacement of the upper part of the press.

    • A vessel holder for receiving a number of vessels is useful in an automated analyzer. To increase the number of vessels which can be received in the analyzer and to simplify the device for reading bar code labels, the vessel holder has an elongate body manufactured in one piece and containing a single straight row of identical elongate chambers. Each chamber is for receiving one vessel. All chambers have a common base with respect to which they are perpendicularly disposed. Adjacent chambers are separated by a partition. The inside of a side wall of each chamber bears a first bar code label for detecting the absence of a vessel in the chamber, and the outside of a side wall of each chamber bears a second bar code label for detecting the position of the chamber in the vessel holder. The first and the second bar code labels are readable by a bar code reader from one and the same side of the vessel holder.

    • An analyzer automatically performs analytical operations in which liquid samples for analysis and required reagents are held in suitable vessels. To increase the number of vessels which can be received in the analyzer and to simplify the device for reading the bar code labels, the analyzer contains at least two vessel holders, a bar code reader, and means for automatically adjusting the focal range and the bar code reader. The vessel holders are disposed parallel to one another in the analyzer. A number of vessels of the same kind (for example, sample-containing vessels) are disposed in each vessel holder. Each vessel holder has an elongate body manufactured in one piece and contains a single straight row of identical elongate chambers for receiving one vessel. All chambers have a common base and are disposed perpendicularly thereto. Adjacent chambers are separated by a partition. The inner surface of a side wall of each chamber bears a first bar code label for detecting the absence of a vessel in the chamber. The outer surface of a side wall of each chamber bears a second bar code label for detecting the position of the chamber in the vessel holder. The first and the second bar code labels are readable by a bar code reader from one and the same side of the vessel holder. The bar code reader is fixedly disposed in the analyzer and used to read all the bar code labels on each vessel holder. The means for automatically adjusting the focal range of the bar code reader is dependent on the distance between it and the vessel holder.
