    • A recoil starter having a driving member and a driven member, wherein the driving member further includes recoiling unidirectional rotating means. The recoiling unidirectional rotating means includes a movable locking claw member which is supported by one of the rope reel and the interlocking rotor in such a manner that it is rotatable therewith and movable in a direction along the rotational axis thereof, an urging member for urging the movable locking claw member toward the other of the rope reel and the interlocking rotor, and an engaging member mounted on the other of the rope reel and the interlocking rotor. The unidirectional rotating means is constructed in such a manner that, when the rope reel is rotated in the driving direction, the movable locking claw member is caused to contact and engage with the engaging member to thereby enable the rotation of the rope reel to be transmitted to the interlocking rotor, and that, when the rope reel is rotated reversibly to the driving direction relative to the interlocking rotor, the engagement between the movable locking claw member and the engaging member is released.

    • A recoil starter wherein unidirectional rotating means is enabled to sustain a larger magnitude of torque, obviating the employment of parts which are high in mechanical strength, in rigidity and in working precision, thus making it possible to reduce the weight and the manufacturing cost thereof. The recoil starter includes a driving member, a driven member, and buffering/power-accumulating means interposed between the driving member and the driven member. The buffering/power-accumulating means is enabled, during the driving process, to accumulate the power supplied through the driving process while alleviating impact to the driven member. The accumulated power is subsequently employed to drive the driven member. The recoil starter includes a spiral spring mechanism having a housing adjacent to the driving member, an actuating pulley adjacent to the driven member, a buffering/power-accumulating member interposed between the housing and the actuating pulley, and unidirectional rotating means for permitting rotation of the housing unidirectionally in a driving direction, where the unidirectional rotating means is disposed on the outer peripheral side of the spring housing.

    • There is provided a recoil starter for starting an internal combustion engine which has a simple and compact structure with a reduced number of parts and which can be manufactured at a reduced cost. In a recoil starter wherein a shaft portion 2' having a reel 3' rotatably attached thereto is provided on a starter case 1 and wherein a rope 4 wound around the reel 3' by a restoring force of a spring 5 is drawn out to rotate the reel 3' thereby driving a pulley 31 to start an internal combustion engine, a configuration is employed wherein a frictional resistance means is provided on the shaft portion 2'; one end of an arm 28 assembled with frictional resistance against the rotation of the reel 3' is anchored or press-fitted to the friction resistance means with another end thereof engaged with a guide groove 27 on the reel 3'; and the rotation of the reel 3' causes the other end of the arm 28 to move in the guide groove 27 for a swinging motion which causes the arm 28 to be engaged with a notch 32 on the pulley 31. This allows the number of parts to be reduced to achieve a reduced overall size and allows manufacturing cost to be reduced.

    • One embodiment provides a recoil starter for starting an engine. The recoil starter includes: a starter case having a storage portion; a rope reel rotatably accommodated in the storage portion, a recoil rope being wound on the rope reel; a recoil spring interposed between the rope reel and the starter case within the storage portion; a cam portion rotatable concentrically with the rope reel and engageable with the engine; and a dust cover provided on an opening of the storage portion to cover the rope reel. The rope reel has concentric circular uneven portions formed on a surface thereof facing the engine, and the dust cover also has concentric circular uneven portions. Therefore, the circular uneven portions of the rope reel and the circular uneven portions of the dust cover fit with each other to provide a nest structure.

    • According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a recoil starter including: a case having a reel supporting shaft; a rope reel having: a tubular shaft portion; an engaging portion; a rope housing groove to house a recoil rope; and a spring housing portion to house a spiral spring; a ratchet axially-slidably arranged outside the tubular shaft portion; a ratchet guide attached to an end of the reel supporting shaft; and a return spring provided between the ratchet guide and the ratchet, wherein an inclined surface and a locking surface are formed on the engaging portion to be engageable with the ratchet, and wherein the inclined surface guides the ratchet toward to be engaged with the driving pulley, thereby rotating the driving pulley and starting the engine, when the rope reel is rotated.
