摘要： In a laser beam scanning apparatus, first and second laser beam emitters emit a laser beam polarized in a specific direction and a laser beam polarized in the direction orthogonal with this specific direction. A prism passes a laser beam emitted from the first laser beam emitter but reflects a laser beam emitted from the second laser beam emitter, and amalgamates two laser beams emitted from the first and second laser beam emitters in almost the same direction. A rotating polygonal mirror and a scanning lens simultaneously scan on a scanned plane two laser beams amalgamated by the prism. A 1/4 wavelength plate is inserted between the rotating polygonal mirror and the prism to change the laser beam from the prism from a linearly polarized state to a circularly polarized state. By the above arrangement, a difference of reflection factors between two laser beams incident to the rotating polygonal mirror can be eliminated so that two uniform laser beams can be scanned at the same time.

摘要： An optical scanning apparatus has a scanning lens with a rotationally asymmetric aspheric surface having individual curvature radii in the main scanning direction and in the sub-scanning direction. The curvature radius in the sub-scanning direction is asymmetrically increased in the lateral direction with the distance from the optical axis. A field curvature aberration which may be generated in the sub-scanning direction on the scanning surface due to an oblique incident of optical beams on the rotating polygonal mirror or the movement of the reflective surface caused by rotation of the rotating polygonal mirror is compensated for by the scanning lens and the focusing properties of the system can be kept at a level of high resolving power.

摘要： In a laser printer wherein a photoconductive drum is scanned by utilizing a plurality of laser beams, there are detected spacings between the plural laser beams, such detection being confined to a blanking time. On the basis of the detected results, the spacings between the plural laser beams are controlled; and this state is maintained for a printing time. With this arrangement, it is possible to accurately detect the spacings between the plural laser beams thereby to obtain the practicable laser printer employing the plural laser beams.

The centrally located lens element of the scanning lens has a refractive power in the direction for correcting the surface tilt, that is, an inverted number of a focal length that is changed in accordance with the scanning view angle, whereby curvature of field is well corrected and RMS spot diameters on the scanning surface may be small. In addition, even if the view angle is increased, imaging characteristics may be kept at a high resolving power.
