    • An apparatus for continuously measuring the flow rate of a fine material flowing through a transport pipe, which comprises: an integrator for integrating calculated values of the flow rate of a fine material flowing through a transport pipe, obtained by a flow rate calculating means; a correction controller, said correction controller being adapted to calculate the total weight of the fine material fed during a prescribed period of time while the fine material in a hopper is only decreasing in amount from said hopper into said transport pipe, on the basis of a measured value of the weight of the fine material in said hopper, and to actuate said integrator during said prescribed period of time; a divider for calculating the correction coefficient "k", i.e., the ratio (W/S) of a calculated value (W) obtained by said correction controller to an integrated value (S) obtained by said integrator; and a multiplier for calculating a corrected value of the flow rate of the fine material flowing through said transport pipe, by multiplying said calculated value obtained by said flow rate calculating means with said correction coefficient "k".

    • The optical fiber cord of the present invention is characterized in having a primary covering layer formed from a polyamide resin that incorporates at least one of an organic acid or an organic acid anhydride on the outer periphery of the optical fiber. In addition, the optical fiber cord with a plug of the present invention has a plug on at least one end of the optical fiber cord of the present invention having a secondary covering layer on the outer periphery, wherein at the end part of the optical fiber cord that has the plug, the primary covering layer is exposed, and the plug is fastened to the exposed primary covering layer. By using the structure described above, an optical fiber cord and an optical fiber cord with a plug that has superior humidity resistance and heat resistance, and in addition can be laid easily in narrow sites because of superior flexibility and is inexpensive. The optical fiber cord and the optical fiber cord with a plug of the present invention can be favorably employed in uses that require thermal resistance such as installation on a vehicle or in factory automation (FA).

    • A surface defect detecting apparatus having at least one sensor block for movement in respect of rotating cylindrically shaped electrically conductive metallic material to be inspected by scanning an outer portion of the surface of the material. The sensor block has spaced guide wheels at front and rear parts thereof in the spiral scanning direction which rotate in response to the rotation of the material; and a coil holder for supporting a plurality of eddy-current flaw detecting coils arranged longitudinally in a row in the direction of movement, intermediate between pairs of guide wheels at the front and rear parts opposite to the outer surface of said material with a predetermined gap therebetween. A turning wheel at each of the front and rear parts of the coil holder is rotatable with respect to the outer surface of the material so as to maintain the predetermined gap.An AC signal of a predetermined frequency applied from an oscillator to the coils produces corresponding eddy currents in material to be inspected. The coils are divided into a first group and a second group with one group of coils being defined by coils other than those coils in an adjoining row to that group, phase shifters feed the AC signal to coils of the first group resulting in a shift in phase by a predetermined amount, as reference signal to detectors formed as phase detectors. The phase detectors are associated with coils of the latter group, with a phase different from that of the AC reference signal respectively applied to a second group of coils and to the phase detectors of the first group of coils.
