    • This invention concerns an elastic multilayer composite, comprising an elastic film layer sandwiched between a first elastic nonwoven layer and an optional second elastic nonwoven layer, and a process for making the same. The laminate is stabilized via bonding according to either: adhesive bonding between the film and nonwoven layer(s), direct extrusion lamination of the film to one or more nonwoven layer(s), or attachment of the film to one or more of the nonwoven layers at a plurality of points via thermopoint bonding. This invention also concerns a process for manufacturing an elastic multilayer composite, comprising: bonding under neutral tension or substantially neutral tension at least one elastic film layer to at least one elastic nonwoven layer. This invention also concerns a process for manufacturing an elastic multilayer composite, comprising: bonding under differential tension or stretch at least one elastic film layer to at least one elastic nonwoven layer, where either the film or the nonwoven or both are stretched Further the invention relates to a process whereby the elastic nonwoven(s), the film, the composite or any combination is activated, especially stretch activated, to create or enhance elasticity or the touch of the nonwoven, to create pores in the elastic film, or to soften the composite.

    • The invention is an amine-organoborane complex wherein the organoborane is a trialkyl borane and the amine is an amine having an amidine structural component; an aliphatic heterocycle having at least one nitrogen in the heterocyclic ring wherein the heterocyclic compound may also contain one or more nitrogen atoms, oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms, or double bonds in the heterocycle; a primary amine which in addition has one or more hydrogen bond accepting groups wherein there is at least two carbon atoms, preferably three, between the primary amine and the hydrogen bond accepting group, such that due to inter- or intramolecular interactions within the complex the strength of the B—N bond is increased; or a conjugated imine. Preferred hydrogen bond accepting groups include the following: a secondary amine, a tertiary amine, an ether, a halogen, a polyether group or a polyamine group. The complexes of the invention are used in polymerizable compositions, adhesive compositions and coatings compositions containing compounds having moieties which polymerize under free radical polymerization conditions.

    • In one embodiment the invention is a polymerizable composition comprising a) an organoborane amine complex; b) one or more of monomers, oligomers or polymers having olefinic unsaturation which is capable of polymerization by free radical polymerization; c) one or more compounds, oligomers or prepolymers having a siloxane backbone and reactive moieties capable of polymerization; and d) a catalyst for the polymerization of the one or more compounds, oligomers or prepolymers having a siloxane backbone and reactive moieties capable of polymerization. This composition may further comprise a compound which causes the organoborane amine complex to disassociate. In a preferred embodiment, the two part composition further comprises a compound which is reactive with both the b) one or more of monomers, oligomers or polymers having olefinic unsaturation which is capable of polymerization by free radical polymerization; and the c) one or more compounds, oligomers or prepolymers having a siloxane backbone and reactive moieties capable of polymerization. This composition can be polymerized by contacting the two parts of the composition. In another embodiment the invention is an organoborane amine complex comprising an alkyl borane having ligands which are alkyl, cycloalkyl or both and an amino siloxane.

    • The invention is a two part polymerizable composition comprising in one part an organoborane amine complex and one or more compounds containing ring opening heterocyclic moieties, and in a second part, compounds capable of being polymerized by free radical polymerization, a catalyst capable of polymerizing compounds containing ring opening heterocyclic moieties and optionally a component that will decomplex the organoborane amine complex. In one embodiment the invention is a two phase system comprising a first phase containing one or more polymers prepared from the compounds which polymerize by free radical polymerization and a second phase comprising polymerized or partially polymerized compounds derived from one or more compounds containing ring opening heterocyclic moieties. In one embodiment the polymer prepared from compounds containing heterocyclic ring opening moieties is not miscible with the polymer prepared by free radical polymerization and thus the resulting polymerized composition has at least two regions each rich in one of the two polymers formed. In another embodiment the polymerizable compositions of the invention can be formulated into adhesive compositions. Adhesive compositions of the present formulation provide excellent adhesion to low surface energy plastics from room temperature to temperatures over 125° C.
