    • A transparency changer attachment for an overhead projector includes hinged horizontal and vertical portions that are located over the projector cover glass and down the projector side, respectively. Transparencies are automatically sequentially fed by pick and retard rollers from a single cassette-loaded transparency stack in the vertical portion to belts and rollers located marginally of a viewing area defined in the horizontal portion, to bring them into registration with the cover glass for projection, and then return them to the single stack. A microprocessor circuit controls the stack side from which the next transparency is picked and to which it is returned, according to selection made by the user. The cassette is keyed to assure correct transparency orientation at loading. A sensor reads individual transparency identifying information to initiate rapid cycling to a particular next desired transparency.

    • Methods and systems that utilize explosive and cryogenic means to establish fluid communication to areas away from the well bore walls are disclosed. A first fracture is induced in the subterranean formation. The first fracture is initiated at about a fracturing location and the initiation of the first fracture is characterized by a first orientation line. The first fracture temporarily alters a stress field in the subterranean formation. Explosives are then used to induce a second fracture in the subterranean formation. The second fracture is initiated at about the fracturing location and the initiation of the second fracture is characterized by a second orientation line. The first orientation line and the second orientation line have an angular disposition to each other.

    • Various neural-network based surrogate model construction methods are disclosed herein, along with various applications of such models. Designed for use when only a sparse amount of data is available (a “sparse data condition”), some embodiments of the disclosed systems and methods: create a pool of neural networks trained on a first portion of a sparse data set; generate for each of various multi-objective functions a set of neural network ensembles that minimize the multi-objective function; select a local ensemble from each set of ensembles based on data not included in said first portion of said sparse data set; and combine a subset of the local ensembles to form a global ensemble. This approach enables usage of larger candidate pools, multi-stage validation, and a comprehensive performance measure that provides more robust predictions in the voids of parameter space.
