    • Compounds represented by the general formula (I), as well as intermediates for the synthesis of thereof: ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or an acyl group; R.sup.2 is a lower alkyl group; R.sup.3 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6, which may be the same or different, are a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or aryl group; R.sup.2 and R.sup.4, when taken together, may form a 5-membered ring; R.sup.5 and R.sup.6, when taken together, may form a cycloalkyl group or a heterocyclic group in which at least one methylene on the ring of a cycloalkyl group is substituted by an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or an alkyl-substituted nitrogen atom, provided that R.sup.6 is not present if the ring formed by R.sup.2 and R.sup.4 taken together is a benzofuran ring. The compounds represented by the general formula (I) have a highly selective anti-oxidative activity and are useful as therapeutics of ischemic diseases such as arteriosclerosis and myocardial infarction.

    • A novel morphine derivative represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a lower alkanoyl group;R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkylthio group, an aryl group, a lower alkoxycarbonylalkyl group, a lower alkyl group or a lower alkanoyl group;R.sub.3 represents a lower cycloalkylmethyl group or an allyl group,and a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof. The compound of the above general formula shows an analgesic activity 5 or more times as high as that of morphine and a narcotic antagonist action. Further, it exhibits an extremely low drug dependence. These properties make it highly useful as an active ingredient of drugs such as analgesics or anesthetics.

    • A self sealable glassy resistor composition for a resistor sealed spark plug consists essentially of 5-40% by weight of at least one of the resistance value stabilizing component selected from the group consisting of oxides of metals of Groups IVb and Vb of the Periodic Table and rare earth metals, ThO.sub.2 and SiC, a water soluble carbonaceous material of saccharides or aliphatic hydrocarbons in such an amount that 0.1-5.0% by weight of carbon value is contained in the final composition, 35-85% by weight of borosilicate glass powder, 5-25% by weight of at least one of metals or alloys thereof, the melting point of which is higher than the glass seal temperature and 2-20% by weight of at least one of metals or alloys thereof, the melting point of which is lower than the glass seal temperature, provided that the total amount of both the higher melting point metals or alloys and the lower melting point metals or alloys is up to 30% by weight. The properties of the self sealable glassy resistor composition can be improved by additionally adding 0.1-20 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the self sealable glassy resistor composition, of at least one of the carbides of Ti, Zr, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, B and Th.
