摘要： A cleaning device of an image forming machine including a pair of arm members each having one end portion pivotable about a support shaft, a cleaning roller rotatably supported between front end portions of the arm members via a shaft, helical compression springs for urging the arm members so as to bring the cleaning roller into contact under pressure with the surface of a photoconductor drum, a drive gear of the photoconductor drum, and a driven gear of the cleaning roller in mesh with the drive gear. Each of the arm members is disposed axially outwardly of the photoconductor drum. The center of the support shaft of each of the arm members is either placed on an extension of a line of action passing the point of engagement between the drive gear and the driven gear, or placed on an extension of a straight line passing the point of engagement, the straight line being within an angular range of some angle to the line of action.

摘要： A process unit includes a unit frame having a pair of walls arranged in a width direction to maintain a distance and a developing device mounted between the pair of side walls of the unit frame. The developing device has a toner container that includes a container body having an opening formed in the bottom surface thereof and a sealing member that is peelably stuck to the bottom surface of the container body to close the opening. The sealing member has one end to which is coupled a grip member that can be pulled to remove the sealing member from the bottom surface of the container body to open the container opening. An anchor means is disposed on a wall on one side of the container body, so that the grip member is detachably anchored thereto without outwardly protruding in the width direction. The grip member extends along the wall of the container body. An opening and a mounting device are disposed at a wall on one side of the unit frame and are juxtaposed with respect to each other. The grip member is detachably mounted on the mounting device so as to partly protrude outwardly through the opening in the unit frame wall.

摘要： An image forming apparatus for forming a color image has developing devices with different color toners. Each developing device has a toner carrier and a layer thickness-controller facing the carrier. Circularity of toner in a particular color is smaller than that of toners in other colors. The layer thickness-controllers of the developing devices containing toners in other colors contact the carrier at a particular linear pressure. Additionally, the coefficient of variance (CV value) of the particle diameter distribution of toner in a particular color may be defined by the formula CV   VALUE = ( STANDARD   DEVIATION   OF   VOLUME - AVERAGE   PARTICLE   DIAMETER   DISTRIBUTION ) ( ARITHMETIC   VOLUME  - AVERAGE   PARTICLE   DIAMETER ) × 100 and may exceed the CV value of the toners in other colors. The image forming apparatus contains the contaminating toner in the developing device, makes the image resistant to color mixing, and reduces image staining, even if there is leakage of a toner and contamination of the toners in different colors with the scattered toner.

摘要： A driving mechanism for use in an image forming apparatus has a rotary shaft, a driving joint, a drum gear, a cleaning roller gear, and a transfer roller gear. The rotary shaft extends through a photosensitive member along an axis of rotation of the photosensitive member. The rotary shaft is rotatably supported at the opposite axial end parts thereof by bearings, respectively. The rotary shaft is un-rotatably jointed to the photosensitive member relative thereto at a lateral side part of a rear end part of the rotary shaft corresponding to the rear side of the image forming apparatus. The driving joint is jointed to the rear end part of the rotary shaft protruding from the photosensitive member at the rear side of the image forming apparatus to input a rotating force of a drum motor to the photosensitive drum. The drum gear is provided at the rear side of the photosensitive member. The cleaning roller gear and the transfer roller gear are in mesh with the drum gear. The rotary shaft has a mass larger than the photosensitive member.

The one side wall of the container is opposed to the inner surface of the one of the supporting side walls to engage the engaging means and the engaged means with each other, and the other side wall of the container is opposed to the inner surface of the other of the pair of supporting side walls, whereby the toner cartridge is mounted on the toner cartridge mounting portion.
