    • A machine for making absorbent sanitary articles includes a feed conveyor on which a continuous web of material for making the articles is advanced along a feed line in a first direction. A forming and application unit forms and applies by which at least one pair of accessory elements for each article and includes a device for feeding a continuous succession of accessory elements and a conveying unit. The conveying unit includes a conveyor roller for the continuous succession of accessory elements, and a separating device defined by a first and a second spacer roller which are substantially tangent to the conveyor roller at a first and a second pickup station, respectively. The first and the second spacer roller have retaining and alternate movement devices including respective pickup pads which are slidable along a second direction and which are driven by a respective linear electric motor.

    • Pant type nappies, or diapers, are provided with lateral tabs applied by a device comprising a conveyor (10) on which absorbent central bodies (3), one per nappy (2), are caused to advance in succession along a given feed direction (D), also a feed device (12) facing the conveyor (10) and supplying a succession of prefolded lateral tabs (4), ordered in pairs. A pair of tabs (4) is placed on each absorbent central body (3) in turn, and at least a first end (4a) of each tab (4) fixed to one corresponding edge of the body. The device further comprises a folding mechanism operating along the conveyor (10), downstream of the feed device (12), by which the successive absorbent central bodies (3) are bent double, and respective second ends (4b) of the two lateral tabs (4) fastened to the edges of the body (3).

    • A continuous strip (3) of material advancing along a given feed direction (A) is shaped by a device (1) that comprises a rotating drum (6a), around which the strip (3) is looped at least in part, and a laser cutting head (7). The laser head (7) operates from the side of the strip (3) opposite to the drum (6a), which is furnished internally with a first pressurized chamber (10a) able to generate an extracting or blowing action on smoke produced by the laser cutting process, and a second chamber (10b) adjacent to the first, by which scrap material cut from the strip (3) is detached and retained on the drum. Smoke produced by the laser cut is distanced from the strip (3) almost instantaneously by a blower (14) located between the cutting head (7) and the drum (6a), and thus prevented from condensing and hardening on the cut edge of the strip (3). The cutting head (7) is also equipped with scanning appliances (100) serving to deflect the laser beams (F) onto the cutting area, and positioned selectively by a control and setting device (9) incorporating dedicated software.
