    • Monocyclic and polycyclic azoles having the following formula enhance the covering power of a developed silver image formed from a radiographic element comprising a radiation sensitive tabular grain silver bromide, silver bromochloride or silver bromoiodide emulsion layer containing grains having a mean equivalent circular diameter of at least 0.3 .mu.m and a grain population wherein at least 50 percent of the total grain population projected area is accounted for by tabular grains having a tabularity of greater than 8, as determined by the relationship: ##EQU1## wherein T is tabularity; ECD is the mean effective circular diameter in .mu.m of the tabular grains; and t is the mean thickness in .mu.m of the tabular grains.     • A method of retouching a dye image comprises selective removal with an aqueous acidic organic solvent solution, as described in the application, of a portion of a dye image from an exposed and processed photographic silver halide element comprising a support bearing a dye image from a dye-forming coupler and a primary amine photographic color developing agent, wherein the dye-forming coupler: (a) contains so ionizable group that is retained as part of a dye formed upon oxidative coupling, (b) has a structure such that the Log P of the coupler is greater than 4 and is derived from a four-equivalent coupler that has a Log P less than 8, and (c) has a coupling reactivity that enables formation of maximum image density of at least 0.6. The method comprises the step of contacting the dye image with an aqueous acidic organic solvent solution, as described in the application, for a time and at a temperature sufficient to selectively dissolve and remove a portion of the dye image from the photographic element. A new photographic element designed for such retouching comprises new pyrazolotriazole couplers as described in the application.

    • The invention provides a color photographic element comprising: a) a first light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a tetrazole compound of Formula I:  wherein when R1 is hydrogen, then R2 is an alkyl, aryl, alkoxy , aryloxy, alkylthio or arylthio, sulfoxyl, sulfonyl, sulfamoyl, —O—CO—, —O—SO2—, a heterocyclic group, a carbonyl group or an amino group or when R2 is a thiol (—SH) group, then R1 is an alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group provided further that the ClogP for the compound of Formula I is at least 2.0 and less than 7.8; and b) a second light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, having a spectral sensitivity different from that of the first light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, containing a compound of Formula II: COUP—(TIME)j—INH  II wherein: 1) COUP is a coupler parent group capable of forming a dye upon reaction with an oxidized developer; 2) TIME is a timing group bonded to the coupling position of COUP and j is 0 or 1; and 3) INH is a mild silver development inhibitor fragment. The invention provides improved color reproduction.
