摘要： An aluminum base bearing alloy having outstanding seizure resistance, fatigue resistance and wear resistance is provided. The alloy comprises, in addition to aluminum, 0.5-5 wt. % of Si and 0.5-8 wt. % of at least one of Pb, In, Tl, Cd and Bi and contains at least 5 modular Si particles having a diameter of at least 5 .mu.m per 3.56.times.10.sup.-2 (mm).sup.2 of cross-sectional area of the alloy. The bearing alloy may optionally contain at least one additional element selected from Cu, Mg, Mn and Cr. A bearing material is provided by pressure welding the aluminum base bearing alloy to a backing steel sheet.

摘要： A bearing to be used in an internal combustion engine, comprises a base and an overlay layer formed on said base. The overlay layer comprises an alloy layer consisting of from 5 to 20%, preferably from 10 to 14%, of Sn, from 0.05 to 10%, preferably from 0.5 to 5%, of at least one element selected from the group consisting of In and Tl, from 0.05 to 5%, preferably from 0.2 to 2%, of at least one, wear resistance-enhancing element selected from the group consisting of Sb, Mn, Bi, Ni, Cu, Ca and Ba, and Pb and impurities in balance, all percentages being by weight. The bearing is satisfactorily reliable when used in recent internal combustion engines, wherein the output of the engines tends to be high, and further, the oil drain interval tends to be long.The plating of layers and diffusion between these layers are conducted to produce a bearing which is reliable when used in the recent internal combustion engines.

摘要： An apparatus is provided for manufacturing a cylindrical member utilizing a pair of dies each of which has a semi-cylindrical recess formed therein and which are adapted to be brought into abutment against each other to form a material disposed within the recesses into a cylindrical form. The abutting surfaces of the pair of dies are offset from a plane which includes the axis of a cylindrical member to be formed within the recesses of the dies and which is perpendicular to the direction of movement of one or both of the dies. In this manner, the formation of a bulge or flash on the outer periphery of the cylindrical member can be prevented which may be formed if the abutting surfaces lie in said plane.

摘要： A mechanical seal for preventing the leakage of fluid through the rotary sliding contact surfaces, in which a contact surface is provided with a plurality of fine one-way grooves having outer closed end portions. The fine grooves which are inclined outwardly and rearwardly to the relative rotation can be formed in the sliding contact surface of either the rotating member or the stationary member. If the fine grooves are formed radially or inclined outwardly and forwardly, the fine grooves may be formed in the sliding contact surface of the rotating member. The mechanical seal having such fine grooves in the sliding contact surface gives a quite good sealing effect because, during the rotation of rotating members, the leakage flow of the pressurized fluid or a mixture of liquid and gas that is sealed in on the outside thereof toward the external gas existing on the inside thereof, can be avoided. In another embodiment of the above mechanical seal having the fine grooves, the peripheral portion of at least one sliding contact surface is somewhat raised in the direction of the axis of the rotary shaft so as to increase the contact pressure between the contact surfaces, thereby enhancing the sealing effect during the stoppage of the rotating members. Therefore, the sealing effect in all the use conditions can be much improved.
