    • A cooling system for an internal combustion engine includes a radiator provided in a coolant circulation path of the internal combustion engine, and an actuator that controls a flow rate of a coolant that passes through the radiator. In the cooling system, the actuator is controlled so that a coolant temperature of the engine becomes substantially equal to a target coolant temperature. The cooling system calculates a cooling loss as a quantity of heat removed from the engine by the coolant, based on an operating state of the engine, and calculates a required radiator flow rate, based on the cooling loss, the target coolant temperature, and a temperature of the coolant that has passed through the radiator. The required radiator flow rate represents a quantity of the coolant required to pass through the radiator so as to achieve the target coolant temperature. The cooling system then controls the actuator based on the required radiator flow rate.

    • An engine cooling system controls a cooling degree of an engine 1 according to an operating condition thereof by circulating cooling water through the engine. This system is provided with a water temperature sensor 31 for detecting a cooling water temperature THW1, a flow rate regulating valve 8 for regulating a circulation flow rate of the cooling water, and an electronic control unit (ECU) 30 for controlling the valve 8. The ECU 30 sets a non-control region and a first and second control regions, each centering on a target water temperature to be calculated according to operating conditions of the engine 1. The ECU 30 controls the valve 8 to open and close at a high speed when the cooling water temperature THW1 is in the second control region, thereby to allow the cooling water temperature to approach the first control region or at a low speed when the cooling water temperature THW1 is in the first control region, thereby to allow the cooling water temperature to approach the non-control region, or holds the valve 8 at a current opening degree when the cooling water temperature THW1 is in the non-control region.

    • A power window apparatus is provided that, even if a CPU (IC2) causes malfunction or becomes uncontrollable upon submergence, can prevent windows from performing unexpected operations and enables the windows to be opened without fail if desired. The power window apparatus comprises: a driving part that has two current input-output ends, and opens or closes automobile open/close parts, depending on the direction of a flowing current; two relays which respectively have exciting coils and switching contacts, wherein, when a current is fed to the exciting coils, the switching contacts connect the current input-output end to a positive or negative pole of power; a submergence detecting sensor that drops in resistance value between both ends thereof when exposed to water; and a submergence-time escape switch that forcibly drives the open/close parts open upon submergence, wherein transistors are provided which are connected in series with the exciting coils and feed a current to the exciting coils, and the bases of the transistors are grounded via the submergence detecting sensor.
