摘要： A method of repairing a part, such as a rotating disk/drum rotor of a gas turbine engine. The method includes: heating a contact area of a wrought material and a contact area of a wrought part; and pressing the contact area of the material against the contact area of the part to bond the parts. A method of making a rotating part of a gas turbine engine, comprising: heating a contact area of a wrought material and a contact area of a wrought part; and pressing the contact area of the material against the contact area of the part to bond the parts. The methods may include a subsequent heat treatment to provide the desired strength properties to the joint between the material and the part.

摘要： A tiltable serving device for storing and dispensing a pourable liquid foodstuff such as a gravy, juice, punch or sauce is disclosed. The device includes a container having an upper open end and a pour spout attached to an upper end portion thereof for guiding the flow of a liquid as it is poured from the container. An end portion of the pour spout contains a cornerless hole therethrough which is sized so that a majority portion of a liquid being poured from the container along the pour spout flows over an end of the spout while a minority portion of the liquid flowing along the spout flows through the hole. The hole has an opening on an upper surface of the spout which lies generally parallel to the direction of flow of the liquid flowing along the spout. The pour spout may be in the form of a lip attached to an upper rim portion of the container which extends outwardly and downwardly from the rim. The container may be removably disposed upon a stand whereon it can be tilted to pour a liquid therefrom along the spout.

摘要： A device for propagating magnetic domains includes a monocrystalline nonmagnetic substrate of a rare earth gallium garnet bearing a layer of an iron garnet capable of supporting local enclosed magnetic domains. The iron garnet layer is grown in compression on a (100) face of the nonmagnetic substrate. The iron garnet comprises manganese in part of the iron sites of its crystal lattice, and comprises yttrium and at least one representative selected from the group comprising bismuth and the rare earth metals in the dodecahedral lattice sites. Such a magnetic garnet has a very high uniaxial anisotropy and a high domain mobility. These properties make the device extremely suitable for propagating submicron magnetic domains having diameters as small as 0.4 .mu.m.

摘要： A method of determining a depth of intergranular attack (IGA) on a surface of a metal part includes applying a replicating material on a second surface of the part that is essentially perpendicular to and intersects with the surface of interest. The replicating material is used to create an inverted replica of the microstructure of the second surface. Lengths of the cracks replicated on the replicating material are measured in order to determine the depth of intergranular attack on the surface of the part. In some embodiments, a fixture device may be temporarily attached to the metal part to maintain an edge of the second surface.
