    • A compact fluorescent lamp having an arc tube is disclosed. The arc tube comprises: at least a first tube part and a second tube part connected to each other through a transverse connecting tube portion including a cold spot. The lamp further comprises an outer bulb enclosing the arc tube. A clip member is adapted to clip to the connecting tube portion. The clip member is for providing heat dissipation from the cold spot and for providing resilient positioning for the arc tube along a longitudinal axis of the lamp. The clip member is comprised of: at least one gripping section adapted to clip on said connecting tube portion diametrically around, and made of a curved resilient metallic strip; at least two resilient outward tags protruding out from the gripping section in different directions for providing flexible support on an inner surface portion of the outer bulb. The outward tags are made of metal and having contacting sections for sprung contact onto the inner surface portion of the outer bulb.

    • A compact fluorescent lamp comprises a discharge tube arrangement with at least one discharge tube. The tube is formed of glass, encloses a discharge volume filled with a discharge gas and has a fluorescent phosphor coating disposed on the inner surface of the tube. The tube forms a continuous arc path and has electrodes disposed at each end of the arc path. The lamp also comprises a ballast circuit connected to the electrodes by lead-in wires and to a supply voltage by lead-out wires for controlling the current in the tube. A bulb shaped outer envelope comprises a substantially spherical portion, which encloses the tube arrangement and an elongated end portion, which encloses the ballast circuit. The end portion of the outer envelope has a neck portion with an open end on a base side for receiving a base shell. The open end of the neck portion is closed and terminated by a closing and neck reinforcing means of a material compatible with the material of the outer envelope, which has a substantially circular opening. The lead-out wires are led through the substantially circular opening to a base shell for connecting said lamp to said supply voltage through a socket.A method for manufacturing a compact fluorescent lamp as described above is also disclosed. In the proposed method the open end of the elongated portion of the outer envelope is closed and terminated with a closing and neck reinforcing means comprising a substantially circular opening for leading through the lead-out wires.

    • This invention relates to a single-ended discharge lamp having an electric circuitry placed in its base member, which discharge lamp comprises a discharge tube filled with additive and gas, is sealed in a gas-tight manner and is provided with electrodes. A base member is provided for the mounting of the discharge tube and for incorporating the electric circuitry mounted on a printed circuit board therein. The base member has a screw base mounted thereon both for mechanical and electrical connection to a socket. Furthermore, the terminals of the circuitry are fixed and are electrically connected with the electrode lead wires by means of mechanical connector arrangement where the mechanical connector component is one contiguous metal part. The essential feature of the solution according to the invention is the mechanical connector arrangement includes a base part and a connection part of which the base part is embedded in the printed circuit board and the electrode lead wires are connected to the connection part. The connection part is formed as a cavity and the electrode lead wires intrude into this cavity and the electrode lead wires are mechanically fixed and simultaneously electrically connected to the wall of the cavity.

    • The invention relates to a single-ended discharge lamp with circuitry in its housing base. The discharge lamp includes a discharge tube and a housing. The discharge tube is provided with electrodes containing a fill and sealed in a gas-tight manner. The housing base contains circuitry mounted on a circuit board and providing for the operation of the discharge tube. The housing base is built from two parts, a base and a cap, fixed to each other. The housing base is formed in a way suitable for mechanical and electrical connection to a lamp socket on one part, and for mechanically fixing the discharge tube and connecting the output terminals of the circuitry to the electrode inleads of the discharge tube on the other part. The circuit board is inserted between supports formed in the inside of and protruding from one part of the housing base. One feature of the invention is that longitudinal ribs are formed on the support and protrude from the support. The ribs are so dimensioned that in the direction of insertion of the circuit board, the space available for the circuit board progressively decreases, which results in the circuit board moving up to a stop on the ribs over at least a part of the length thereof.

    • A compact fluorescent lamp comprises a discharge tube arrangement with at least one discharge tube. The ballast circuit and the discharge tube arrangement are held within the outer envelope and relative to each other in a predetermined position by a holding and protecting shield being oriented in a plane substantially perpendicular to the principal axis of the lamp and comprising a receiving and fixing portion for the discharge tube and the printed circuit board of the ballast circuit.A method for manufacturing a compact fluorescent lamp as described above is also disclosed. In the proposed method, the ballast circuit and the discharge tube arrangement are inserted into and attached to a holding and protecting shield.

    • Plastic housing and screw base construction for compact fluorescent lamps and electrical operating units thereof comprising a base (2) including a metal screw base shell (20) with a thread-free opening portion (22) and a plastic housing (1). The plastic housing (1) has a neck part (10) which is a body of rotation with central axis (O). The neck part comprises a cylindrical or slightly conical mantle portion (12), which starts from a stop shoulder (11), and a shell (13) which connects to the mantle portion (12) and which has an open end and diameters decreasing in at least one step. The base (2) is pushed over and fixed to the neck part (10) of the plastic housing (1). A lead wire (3) is passed through from the inner space of the plastic housing (1) between the thread-free opening portion (22) of the base shell (20) and the mantle portion (12) of the neck part (10). A rib (14), which protrudes in and has a front surface (15) perpendicular to radial direction, is formed on the mantle portion (12). A slot (16), which extends parallel to the central axis (O) and has a depth suitable for accepting a portion (30) of the lead wire (3) leaving the plastic housing (1), is indented into the front surface (15). A local protrusion (21) with an inner size and shape fitting to the rib (14) is made in the thread-free opening portion (22) of the base shell (20).
