    • A method and device for decoding a sequence of physical signals. A Viterbi algorithm is carried out a first time for all physical signals, resulting in a maximum likelihood path, wherein there is one signal value for each physical signal and which has been determined along the entire trellis according to the Viterbi algorithm. A reliability value is determined for each signal value of the maximum likelihood path. The Viterbi algorithm is then carried out a second time with the following steps: selecting one subregion of the trellis, the subregion having a partial initial signal value and a partial end signal value on the maximum likelihood path; determining one further path in that subregion of the trellis which ends at the partial end signal value of the maximum likelihood path; determining each signal value on the further path and comparing same with the corresponding signal value on the maximum likelihood path relating to the same time; depending on the comparison result, the signal value of the maximum likelihood path is allocated the reliability value determined in the previous iteration step or the minimum of this and the reliability value of the partial end signal value; shifting the subregion of the trellis by at least one time unit; and using, storing and/or outputting the determined signal values and selected reliability values associated with the signal values as the decoded sequence.

    • An actuator for a motor vehicle, more specifically for a motor vehicle seat. The actuator comprises an electric motor having an output shaft, a gear that is connected to the output shaft and including a gear housing having two partially cylindrical exterior surfaces, and a spindle that communicates with the gear, the spindle defining a threading and runs transversely with respect to the output shaft. Further, the actuator comprises a gear retainer that (a) forms a surrounding grip around the gear housing, in which (b) the gear housing is held pivotal about a pivot axis that runs parallel to the output shaft, that (c) has two partially cylindrical interior surfaces, each mating the exterior surfaces against which they fit, and that (d) includes a recess or two recesses for the passage of the spindle. The gear retainer has fastening holes running parallel to the pivot axis.

    • A method for synchronization of a mobile radio receiver having a time slot structure for a radio signal is disclosed. A data stream received by the mobile radio receiver is filtered in a filter, thereby producing a decision sequence of received data as a set of maximum possible determined time slot boundaries. The decision sequence is processed in a two-step method such that, in a first method step, a subset is selected from the decision sequence and, then, in a second method step, the elements of said subset are averaged over time, with the time slot boundary which is used for synchronization being obtained as the result of this averaging process. In this case, the subset is selected using statistical characteristics of those signal sample values that are associated with a time slot boundary, and of those signal sample values which are not associated with a time slot boundary.

    • The forwardly movable vehicle seat has an underframe including a longitudinal adjusting device that has two pairs of rails, two catch devices and one actuation lever for actuating the catch devices. The vehicle seat further has a seat pan that is carried by the underframe. The seat pan includes a seat back that is pivotal about a seat back axis and on which there is disposed a release lever. In the actuation state, the seat back is unlocked for tilting, the actuation lever being actuated and the catch device unlocked when the seat back is tilted forward so that the seat can be brought from an initial position to a forwardly moved position. There is provided a memory mechanism that ensures that the seat, when being moved back from its forwardly moved position, resumes its initial position.

    • The headrest has a first structural component comprising fastening means for fastening said headrest to a seat back (22) of a motor vehicle seat and a second structural component that is disposed so as to be movable with respect to said first structural component, comprises a bolster (24) and is moved forward with respect to the first structural component in the event of a crash. A drive unit is disposed between the first structural component and the second structural component and comprises a locking unit which is locked in the normal case and a crash sensor (38) connected to the locking unit which it controls. The locking unit comprises a disengagement drive (39) with an electromagnet (60) or a piezoelectric drive (40). The locking unit has one retainer member (42) associated with the first structural component and one movable disengagement member (44) associated with the second structural component.
