摘要： A non-aqueous electrolyte to be used in a Li-ion battery includes a lithium salt, a cyclic carbonate, a linear carbonate and an alkyl fluorinated phosphate, of the following general formula wherein R1, R2 and R3, independently, are selected from the group consisting of straight and branched alkyl groups having 1-5 carbon atoms, and at least one of said alkyl groups is fluorinated, with the locations of said fluorination being at least β-positioned away from the phosphorous of said phosphate, such that said alkyl phosphate has a F/H ratio of at least 0.25, and said electrolyte solution is non-flammable.

摘要： Based on the discovery that the melting point and solubility of onium salts are affected by the asymmetry of the substitution on cation, and that the branched substituents effectively shield onium cations from electrochemical reduction, new onium salts are synthesized and high performance electrolytes based on these salts for electrochemical capacitor are provided. The composition of the new electrolyte comprises an onium salt or mixture of such onium salts dissolved in aprotic, non-aqueous solvents or mixture of such solvents. The electrolyte is able to perform at high rate of charge/discharge, at low ambient temperatures, and within wide operating voltage, due to the high solubility, low melting temperature, and the improved reduction stability of the new onium cations, respectively.

It comprises molten lithium salts or salt mixtures in which a small amount of an anionic polymer lithium salt is dissolved to stabilize the liquid against recrystallization. Further, a liquid ionic electrolyte which has been rubberized by addition of an extra proportion of anionic polymer, and which has good chemical and electrochemical stability, is described. This presents an attractive alternative to conventional salt-in-polymer electrolytes which are not cationic conductors.

摘要： This invention described the preparation of a series of compounds that can be used as co-solvents, solutes or additives in non-aqueous electrolytes and their test results in various electrochemical devices. The inclusion of these novel compounds in electrolyte systems can enable rechargeable chemistries at high voltages that are otherwise impossible with state-of-the-art electrolyte technologies. These compounds are so chosen because of their beneficial effect on the interphasial chemistries formed at high potentials, such as 5.0 V class cathodes for new Li ion chemistries. The potential application of these compounds goes beyond Li ion battery technology and covers any electrochemical device that employs non-aqueous electrolytes for the benefit of high energy density resultant from high operating voltages.
