    • An image formation apparatus comprises a cap to cover the discharge ports of a recording head for discharging ink for the formation of images; rinsing liquid supply means for supplying rinsing liquid for rinsing the cap; and a rinsing liquid receptacle arranged to surround the cap for receiving and retaining the rinsing liquid. With the structure thus arranged, the image formation apparatus is able to prevent ink from being dried in the recording head, and at the same time, to rinse out ink and other dust particles adhering to the discharge port surface of the recording head, and to the cap, a member constituting the device to recover the discharging condition of the apparatus, thus preventing the adhesion of extracted substance resulting from the evaporation of water content in ink for the maintenance of stable ink discharges.

    • The improvement is in the driving mechanism and positioning mechanism between an image bearing member and a main assembly of an image forming apparatus using the image bearing member. The image bearing member has a shaft receiving portion adjacent the center thereof to receive a positioning shaft of the main assembly when the image bearing member is mounted in said main assembly. By the receiving engagement, the image bearing member is correctly positioned with respect to the main assembly. The image bearing member is also provided with a driving force receiving portion where the image bearing member is engaged with a driving member of the main assembly so that the image bearing member can be driven from the main assembly. In such an arrangement, the shaft receiving portion and the driving force receiving portion are radially overlapped, at least in part, with each other as seen from a rotational axis of the image bearing member.

    • A sheet feeding apparatus comprising, a feeding device for pinching a sheet and for selectively performing an operation for temporarily stopping a sheet supplied from an upstream side by abutting a leading end of the sheet against a nip of the feeding device and then feeding the sheet toward a downstream side and an operation for feeding a sheet supplied from the downstream side toward the upstream side; a guide mechanism shiftable between a first position near the nip to direct the sheet supplied from the upstream side to the nip of said feeding device, and a second position far away from the nip than the first position; and a biasing mechanism for biasing the guide mechanism to the first position when the feeding device feeds the sheet supplied from the upstream side toward the downstream side and for biasing the guide mechanism to the second position when the feeding device feeds the sheet supplied from the downstream side toward the upstream side.
