    • An emergency override system includes first and second communication interfaces, a sensor, and a processor. The first communication interface is connected to the second communication interface by a communication line. The sensor is disposed along the communication line and is configured to output signals in response to sensing network data being transmitted on the communication line. The switch is disposed along the communication line and has an open configuration and a closed configuration. The processor is coupled to the switch and the sensor and is configured to control the opening and closing of the switch in response to the signals transmitted by the sensor. The processor provides device control data to the network device over the communication line when the switch is open. The network control data commands the network device to perform a predetermined function in response to a lack of network data being transmitted on the communication line.

    • A discrete object dispensing system and method dispenses any selected number of objects, up to a maximum number, without a substantial delay associated with counting all of the tablets. A preset number of objects are counted and stored in dedicated primary chambers. Furthermore, an overflow chamber is provided for temporarily storing and then dispensing tablets which are fed to the primary chamber after the primary chambers are filled with their respective number of tablets. In addition, a direct feed channel is provided for dispensing individually counted tablets. The chambers and direct feed channel can together dispense the selected number. It is also preferable that the chambers have subchambers, and that more than one subchamber be capable of being emptied during a single dispensing operation.

    • Device in the present invention is a rest timer is that is easy to use and can be mounted on a frame of a weight lifting equipment. The device comprises four preset buttons, which set commonly used rest times. The time is displayed on LCD display. Pressing a button starts the rest time countdown. After the countdown reaches zero an audio signal sounds and the display shows the preset value again. The rest value can be adjusted by using up/down buttons. The device uses a microprocessor to control LCD display, timing and buttons. This allows for a very low component count and ease of manufacturing. User-friendly buttons layout makes the device suitable to use by any level or skill fitness club participant. The device is powered by a battery and can last a long time thanks to power-saving logic of a computer program running on the microprocessor.

    • A discrete object counting and dispensing system includes an object counter, a funnel couplable relative to the object counting system such that when discrete objects are provided in the funnel, the discrete objects are counted by the object counting system. The system also includes a vibration system which vibrates in a substantially horizontally circular plane in a rotational direction, a mounting assembly rigidly coupled to the vibration system, and a discrete object container couplable to the mounting assembly. The container has a reservoir and an exit, and is adapted to feed discrete objects from the reservoir to the exit when the container is vibrated by the vibration system. When the discrete objects are exited from the exit, the discrete objects are counted by the object counting system and then dispensed.

    • An optical transmitter particularly suited for high frequency applicationss disclosed. The optical transmitter successfully operates in harsh environments such as those found in avionic applications. The optical transmitter employs an LED as a light source which cooperates with an active bandpass amplifier to provide a relatively wide bandwidth from about 250 MHz to about at least 1.35 GHz. The bandpass amplifier is selected to have a slope characteristic which is complementary to a roll-off characteristic of the LED and compensates for the high frequency loss of the LED. The slope characteristic of the bandpass amplifier predominates at the high frequencies of the response of the optical transmitter, whereas the frequency response of the LED dominates at the lower frequencies of the response.

    • A network includes a network switch and plural remote nodes, each connected by a cable or channel with the network switch. The network switch includes a set of channel interfaces, each of which includes a visual indicator responsive to data traffic on the associated channel. A cable tracing arrangement includes a tracing signal generator at a channel interface of each remote node, which generates a tracing signal when cable tracing is desired. The tracing signal, when generated for cable tracing, flows over an existing cable to the associated channel interface of the network switch. At the associated channel interface, the tracing signal is converted to a visual illuminator drive signal, which illuminates the visual indicator of the channel with an indication that is distinguishable from the data traffic indication.

    • A medicament tablet dispensing system and method dispenses any selected number of tablets, up to a maximum number, with minimal dispensing delays. During fill operations, a preset number of tablets are counted and stored in dedicated storage compartments. Dispensing operations are performed in response to dispense request commands. The fill operations are performed in a manner independent from the quantity of tablets identified by the dispense request commands. During the dispensing operations for a particular dispense request command, the preset number of tablets are emptied from one or more of the dedicated storage compartments, thereby avoiding delays associated with counting all of the dispensed tablets. Moreover, the fill operations and the dispensing operations may be performed in parallel for high-throughput dispensing applications.
