    • The laser gyro includes a laser and a ring resonator. Apparatus is provided for coupling counter-propagating beams of light from the laser into the resonator. The frequency of the laser is scanned across the resonance frequency of the resonator in steps superimposed on a dc level. The intensity of light in one of the counter-propagating beams is detected during each of the steps and the difference in intensity of the detected light is determined. The difference in the intensity of the detected light is used to alter the dc level of the steps so as to drive the difference to zero. The intensity of light in the other of the counter propagating beams is detected during each of the steps and the difference in intensity is also detected. This difference is indicative of the rotation rate of the gyro.

    • Embodiments of the invention relate to a state-monitoring memory element. The state-monitoring memory element may be implemented by degrading an input voltage supply to the state-monitoring memory element across a diode and/or a transistor. One or more current sources may be used to stress the state-monitoring memory element. A logic analyzer may be used to analyze the integrity of the state-monitoring memory element and trigger appropriate actions in the IC, e.g., reset, halt, remove power, interrupt, responsive to detecting a failure in the state-monitoring memory element. Multiple state-monitoring memory elements may be disturbed in different locations on the IC for better coverage.

    • A spray bar typically utilised for the application of fluids such as hot bitumen onto an adjacent surface has an inner tube (2) which is rotatable relative to an outer tube (17) byway of an actuator (24). The outer tube (17) has various spray nozzles (21) which are designed to deliver fluid fed to the spray bar through a fluid supply passage (3), onto the adjacent surface. The rate of flow to each nozzle is controlled by a series of corresponding apertures in the inner tube (2) and the outer tube (17) which are moved into or out of alignment by rotation of the inner tube relative to the outer tube via the actuator (24). By providing different patterns of apertures corresponding to different nozzles (21) it is possible to achieve altering spray patterns by rotation of the inner tube relative to the outer tube into predetermined orientations. The spray bar according to the invention also has the advantage over the prior art of simplified actuation controls and more robust and reliable construction.

    • An individual blister pack includes an unsealed area formed along an edge, and a die cut slot is formed at an angle adjacent edges of the blister pack and communicates with the unsealed area. The die cut slot allows tearing of the corner of the blister pack, which exposes an easily accessible corner pull tab to allow an impenetrable polymeric film to be peeled away from the underlying foil such that medicament can subsequently be pushed through the foil for dispensing the medicament from the blister pack. The package, therefore, provides a tear-peel-push sequence of operation requiring the cognitive skills of an adult and yet allows an adult an easy manner by which to obtain a finger hold on the impenetrable film layer for peeling it from the blister pack.
