    • A method of operating a power system is provided. The power system has a plurality of generator sets and a bus. The method monitors the bus and generator sets disconnected from the bus. The method supplies to a control device information associated with the operating state of each of the generator sets and the bus. The method determines a relative frequency mismatch, multiplied by a first weight factor, and a relative phase mismatch, multiplied by a second weight factor, between the frequency and phase of the bus and a generator, and generates a frequency speed bias and a phase speed bias for the generator. The method adds the frequency and phase speed biases to form a total speed bias and connects the generator to the bus when the voltage, frequency, and phase of the generator are within a permissible range of the bus.

    • A stationary genset power may have a combustion engine configured to produce a mechanical output, and a main generator driven by the combustion engine to convert a majority portion of the mechanical output to electricity directed to an external load. The stationary genset power system may also have a turbine fluidly connected to the combustion engine, a compressor operatively driven by the turbine to compress combustion air directed to the combustion engine, and a secondary generator operatively driven by the turbine to produce electricity directed to the external load. The stationary genset power system may further have a controller in communication with the primary and second generators. The controller may be configured to synchronize an electrical power output of the secondary generator with an electrical power output of the primary generator prior to connection of the secondary generator to the external load.

    • Turbocompound systems can be used to affect engine operation using the energy in exhaust gas that is driving the available turbocharger. A first electrical device acts as a generator in response to turbocharger rotation. A second electrical device acts as a motor to put mechanical power into the engine, typically at the crankshaft. Apparatus, systems, steps, and methods are described to control the generator and motor operations to control the amount of power being recovered. This can control engine operation closer to desirable parameters for given engine-related operating conditions compared to actual. The electrical devices can also operate in “reverse,” going between motor and generator functions. This permits the electrical device associated with the crankshaft to drive the electrical device associated with the turbocharger as a motor, overcoming deficient engine operating conditions such as associated with turbocharger lag.

    • Disclosed is a system for decomposing an original signal of arbitrary frequency content into a user determined plurality of signals, each of which signals is centered about a variable center frequency. The system of the present invention utilizes a Bank of a plurality of combination Phase Lock Loop and associated Band Pass Filter Bank Components, the Center Frequency of a Frequency Pass Band of each of said Band Pass Filters being effected by use of a signal input thereto, and output by, an associated Phase Lock Loop. The present invention system is particularly well suited for application in the compensation of vibrations in a physical system as sensed by sensors located therein to sense feed-forward and/or feed-back vibration signals. The use of "Look-up" tables which provide magnitude and phase modification specifications for use in modifying vibration compensating actuator applied signal frequency and phase in feed-forward and in feed-back vibration compensation systems is disclosed as is the use of both feed-forward and feed-back signals in an automated vibration compensation system.
