    • The present invention is an improved book cover and removable reading light, the book cover having a central spine section having a longitudinal pocket therein and two outer covers each pivotally connected to opposite edges of the central spine section. An elongated reading light is removably mounted in the pocket of the central spine section, the reading light having a housing including a battery compartment for receiving batteries and a second compartment for receiving an extendable supporting arm for the reading light. The supporting arm and reading light are disposed for movement relative to the second compartment between an open position in which the supporting arm extends out of the second compartment and a closed position in which the supporting arm is disposed within the second compartment. In addition, the reading light is movably mounted relative to the supporting arm for directing light in different directions, as desired by the user. The housing additionally includes a locking device that engages the central spine for locking the light in position when used with the book cover. The locking device enables the reading light to be removed and used with a different size or shape book cover, or with an accessory holder for performing other functions such as mounting in a writing folder, on a music stand or on a computer monitor, so a single reading light can perform multiple functions.

    • A pre-inked hand stamp includes a platen carrying a microporous imaging member on its lower portion and having a centrally located threaded stem extending upward from its upper portion; an upper case member having an open bottom and a centrally located opening in its top, the stem of the platen extending through the centrally located opening; a spring and an adjustable stopping assembly coaxially mounted on the stem; and a handle threadably coupled to the end of the stem. The adjustable stopping assembly includes: a lower base member which is mounted in the central opening of the upper case member, a rotatable member which is mounted on the lower base member, and an upper threaded member which is mounted in the rotatable member, engaging it with a spline and groove structure. Rotation of the rotatable member causes rotation of the upper threaded member which results in movement of the upper threaded member along the threaded stem. This moves the upper portion of the threaded member relative to the rotatable member changing the permissible stroke of the handle. The fact that the upper threaded member engages the interior of the rotatable member with a spline and groove arrangement prevents lateral movement of the stem relative to the upper case member.

    • Multiple reference frame motion estimation for video frame blocks is provided. A plurality of copies of a block list of a reference frame can be loaded into texture memory. Encoding of video blocks of the video frame can be ordered to allow concurrent encoding of the video blocks. Furthermore, motion vector prediction can be performed concurrently for independent video blocks, the motion vectors can be related to each one of the plurality of copies of the block list of the reference frame and determined for the at least a portion of the plurality of blocks ordered for concurrent encoding. Additionally, a fast motion estimation algorithm can be concurrently performed on a number of video blocks to search surrounding blocks and compute motion vectors. Further, concurrent processing of multiple slices can be performed. Such concurrent processes can leverage the parallel architecture of at least one graphical processing unit.
