    • A method and apparatus for transferring a workpiece quickly and which can handle a variety of workpieces even of different outside sizes, and can accurately position workpieces. Workpieces on a transfer surface are adjusted in position to maintain an interval between the workpieces at a certain value. Along the transfer surface are disposed two belts on which are provided first and second holders raised above the transfer surface and which contact the workpiece at its front and rear edges. The holders, which are separately formed on the belt, cooperate with each other to hold the workpieces. The apparatus is also provided with a driving force which is able to change the rotational phase between the two belts. By changing the phase between the belts, the interval between the holders in the transfer direction can be varied in accordance with the size of the workpiece to be transferred.

    • In a method for inspecting a magnetic disk cartridge, the state, with which an adhesive agent has been applied as an annular layer onto a flange of a center hub in order to adhere a magnetic disk body and the flange of the center hub to each other, is inspected. A collimated light beam is irradiated to a cross section of the layer of the adhesive agent, which cross section is taken in the radial direction of the center hub, from a direction which is parallel to the surface of the flange and which is perpendicular to the cross section of the layer of the adhesive agent. The collimated light beam has a beam diameter such that the whole cross section may be included in the beam diameter. The amount of the collimated light beam, which has passed through the region in the vicinity of the flange, is detected. The area of the cross section of the layer of the adhesive agent is calculated from the detected amount of the collimated light beam, which has passed through the region in the vicinity of the flange. Thereafter, the amount of the adhesive agent, which has been applied onto the flange, is investigated from the results of the calculation.

Then, the torsion spring held by the attracting portion is moved to bring the end of the center pin into abutment against the top end of the support pin, and the attracting portion is moved toward the support pin so that the center pin is pushed away from the coiled portion and the support pin is inserted into the coiled portion, and the arms of the torsion spring are released from the forming pins and brought into engagement with the first and second engagement portions on the workpiece.
