    • The present invention provides a novel thermoelectric semiconductor material having excellent thermoelectric property which is not lowered like a conventional PbTe-based or PbSnTe-based semiconductor material even if a strength is improved by sintering. The thermoelectric semiconductor material of the invention is characterized by having chemical formula AB2X4 (where, A is a simple substance or mixture of Pb, Sn and Ge (IV family elements), B is a simple substance or mixture of Bi and Sb (V family elements), and X is a simple substance or mixture of Te and Se (VI family elements). In this case, a spark plasma sintering device is used to apply a pulsed current through the powder material to cause an electrical discharge among particles of the powder to synthesize the compound AB2X4 having a uniform structure. And, the invention synthesizes a compound, which is to be a thermoelectric semiconductor material, so to have a uniform structure. Using a spark plasma sintering device, a pulsed current is applied to the powder material to cause an electrical discharge among particles of the powder to synthesize compound PbBi2Te4 having a uniform structure.

    • The invention is concerned with a magnetic recording/playback apparatus in which a magnetic tape is pulled out from a tape cassette and wound around a cylindrical rotary head cylinder, having a rotary head built therein, over a predetermined angle to record/playback signals through the rotary head, and more particularly, with a tape guide post driving mechanism, a pinch roller pressing mechanism and a tension servo mechanism. Also, the invention realizes a pinch roller pressing mechanism in which a sufficient stroke can be obtained even when a cam gear is reduced in its diameter and can provide a sufficient stroke even with a small amount of rotation. Further, the invention prolongs the service life and achieves a remarkable reduction in both the number of parts used and the number of assembling steps by using a pad brake (brake member), instead of a band brake, for braking a rotating member and bringing the brake member into full contact over the former's entire surface with the member being braked.

    • A cassette loading device is compact, lightweight, thin and used in a video tape player or the like. An opening lever is pivotally mounted on a stand, and is engaged in a cam groove with a top plate. With this arrangement, the opening lever is accommodated within a longitudinal dimension of a cassette, and therefore the loading device in the direction of the longitudinal dimension of the cassette can be greatly reduced. The cassette is moved through the pivotal movement of the top plate and arms, and with this arrangement operating switches and so on can be easily mounted on a plane of projection of the top plate. Therefore, the positional stability of the cassette loading device can be achieved, and the number of component parts can be reduced, thereby achieving a compact, lightweight construction of the cassette loading device.
