摘要： A method and apparatus for creating a joint between tubulars such as tubing, pipes, casing and liner for location in a well bore. A connector (16) in the form of a sleeve is located over the ends of each tubular (12, 14) and the ends of the tubulars are morphed onto the sleeve to provide a metal to metal seal. In an embodiment the sleeve (16) is morphed onto the ends of the tubulars (12, 14). The connector may also have a profiled inner surface with circumferential grooves (266) and a sectioned locating groove (90) to provide axial and torsional load bearing capacity.

For a mixture of materials of differing densities, water may be the segregation media. Shuggling is combined with controlling the flow of water through the vessel at a set velocity. Embodiments are described for separating plastics and mineral ore.

摘要： A dump bailer actuator mechanism is disposed in a dump bailer having an elongated body and a longitudinal bore therethrough. The actuator mechanism has a collet rod which is moved longitudinally between a first, lower position and a second, upper position, by an electric motor turning a threaded shaft, on which rides a nut assembly connected to a push rod, which in turn contacts the collet rod. In the first, lower position, the collet rod keeps the collet fingers of a collet finger assembly, which have external shoulders, engaged with a shoulder profile within the bore of the main body. A weight bar assembly is attached to the collet finger assembly. When the collet rod is moved to the second, upper position, the collet fingers disengage from the profile, and the weight bar assembly is moved forcefully downward, striking a swab piston and forcing cement out of the dump bailer.

摘要： An apparatus (10) and method, particularly useful for isolating zones in a hydrocarbon open hole well bore (80). The apparatus includes a tubular body (12), arranged to be run into and secured within the well bore. A sleeve member (14) is positioned on the exterior of the body and is sealed thereto creating a chamber (16) therebetween. Pressure is applied through a port (18) in the body to cause the sleeve member to move outwardly and morph to an inner wall of the well bore. Pressure is trapped in the chamber and maintained at a morphed pressure value by pressure balancing means in the form of a biased piston (64).

Additional features include blades on the tool for breaking up obstructions prior to being drawn into the chamber and a lubricating line through the tool to introduce lubricating fluid to the blades.

摘要： An optical amplifier which integrates a pre-amplifier and a power amplifier in a single rectangular active medium to enable amplification of low power ultra-short pulses to optimal power levels. A seed beam passes through the amplification medium along a first pre-amplification path making multiple traverses of the medium. It is imaged back along the first path to make a double pass of the medium as a pre-amplifier. The beam is then re-imaged into the medium again on a second power amplification path, making multiple traverses of the medium in a single pass. The paths are independent but overlap so that efficient power extraction is achieved. Embodiments based on all passive components are described.

摘要： A mat lock pin for releasably holding together overlapping mats has an outer body and a rotor rotatably held within the outer body. The outer body is sized and shaped so as to snugly fit within aligned holes in overlapping mats, and is shaped so as to be non-rotational within the holes. The rotor has a central stem and a foot at each end. When the mat lock pin is in place extending through holes in overlapping mats, the rotor feet are at the outermost surfaces of the mats. Rotation of the rotor brings angled surfaces on the rotor feet to bear against the outermost mat surfaces, generating an axial force forcing the mats together. The axial forces forcing the mats together are carried by the rotor, permitting the outer body to be made of relatively low strength, and low cost, material.
