摘要： A method and apparatus for producing a temperature stabilized frequency from a signal generator in a monitoring station is described. The signal generator monitors the voltage response of an RC circuit where the resistive portion is formed by a thermistor, to produce a time-dependent signal. A comparator compares the time-dependent signal to a reference voltage to determine a rise time of the voltage across the capacitor. Based upon a software timer loop, the signal generator determines a temperature range by selecting data from a look-up table based upon the rise time of the RC circuit.

A screw enables the peripheral support zones to be brought into contact with each other and then the central support surfaces to be brought into contact with each other. The invention is applicable to recording and/or reading information on a magnetic tape.

摘要： A method and system is disclosed for indication and prevention of tampering with an electricity meter having control circuitry for automatic remote reading. The control circuitry, provided externally of the meter in a base or base extension, to which the meter is connected, is also used for tamper detection. Embodiments of the invention include use of optical sensing, voltage detection and proximity detection. Ambient light sensing may be performed to detect separation of the meter from the external receptacle. Reflected light to a reflective surface of the meter is sensed to determine if the meter is properly engaged. Presence of a meter connection plug element may be sensed either optically or by position responsive switch. Voltage of the utility supply and meter user output may be monitored to determine tampering.

摘要： A two wire/three wire utility data communications system for remotely reading utility meter registers. In the two wire version, a hand-held reading unit is inductively coupled over two wires via a port located remotely from a meter register. Alternatively, a meter interface unit (MIU) may be connected directly to the register via three wires. Each register includes one or more wheel position encoders. An AC interrogation signal is applied by the reading unit to encoder circuitry at the meter which powers the circuitry and causes the position of each encoder wheel to be read. In the two wire mode, register display information (e.g. the current meter reading) is transmitted back to the reading unit by varying the load (impedance) presented by the register side of the circuit. This causes a corresponding variation of the amount of current drawn from the reading unit. The current-modulated signal is decoded by the reading unit and converted into a register reading. The system can also operate in a three wire mode and read older fourteen wire encoded registers. Other features include remote programmability of register characteristics, the ability to interrogate multiple registers which share a common data bus, verification of encoder wheel positions before accepting a reading, real-time flow rate/leak detection, pulse output, and the capability of reading compound meters (i.e. meters having two registers to separately measure high/low flow rates).

摘要： Optimum routing for communications between a central control unit (CCU) and remote units (nodes), such as electricity meters, distributed on an electrical power line is established by broadcasting from the CCU an interrogation signal to be received by the remote units. In response to a receipt of the interrogation signal, each remote unit returns an acknowledgement signal, time multiplexed with the acknowledgement signals of the other remote units, to the CCU which determines which units, if any, are "mute", i.e., have not acknowledged. The CCU then selects remote units in proximity to the mute remote units if it has already a good knowledge of the network or at random otherwise, to function as relays and repeats interrogation of the remote units via the relays. This process is repeated, if necessary, until communication paths between the CCU and all remote units are established directly or via delay units, to form maps. Numerous maps developed for the nodes during various time periods having different power line interference characteristics are stored in a data base to be accessed by the CCU to quickly establish an optimum route during subsequent periods having similar line interference characteristics.

摘要： A triangle waveform generator for a pulse-width amplitude multiplier includes a digital-to-analog converter and a charge transfer network. Clocked signals applied to the converter, which includes a resistor chain for providing a set of different potentials, sequentially select ones of the potentials and supply two of them to the charge transfer network. The network weights each of the potentials received, then combines them at an output node. By employing appropriate clocking of the converter, a triangular waveform having a plurality of discrete steps results.
