    • A method for monitoring a container having an RFID device interior comprises periodically transmitting messages including unique identifying information and receiving messages transmitted by the RFID device interior the container by a receiving device exterior the container. Some messages transmitted when the container is closed are not received by the receiving device, and some messages transmitted when the container is not closed are received. The method comprises storing and/or relaying the received messages and determining from the number of messages received from the RFID device that are stored and/or relayed whether the container has or has not been opened. The method may also comprise transmitting the messages at two or more power levels and selecting messages that are at the lowest power level that produces at least two corresponding stored and/or relayed messages for determining the location of the RFID device.

    • A voting system and method that provides a printed confirmation of voting selections made comprises a voter interface for receiving voting selections made during a voting session; a processor for creating a voting record including the voting selections made during the voting session; a memory for storing the voting record; a printer for storing the voting record on a human readable and/or optically readable printed paper, and providing the printed paper for verifying the voting selections printed thereon. A voting session identifier may be utilized to provide transparency of each and every vote and may maintain the anonymity of the vote and voter.

    • A system and method are useful for tracking two or more objects moving by separate transport paths to a destination and associating the objects at the destination. Object and check smart tags are associated respectively with each object to be tracked and with an associated check object. Each smart tag includes at least an electronic memory from which information man be transmitted and/or into which information may be stored. Smart tag control units (reader and/or writer) and antenna arrays along the transport path communicate with the smart tags and/or communicate directly or indirectly with one or more processors that process the information. Object and check smart tags are read and compared for matching the object and check object at the destination.
