    • An angular indexing apparatus for a machine tool includes a rotating shaft to which a rotationally driven member is secured; a housing, surrounding the outer periphery of the rotating shaft and mounted to and removed from the body of the machine tool; bearings disposed between the housing and the rotating shaft, and driving means disposed between the housing and the rotating shaft and rotating the rotating shaft to index an angular position. The driving means includes drive motors, each including a motor rotor and a motor stator concentrically disposed around the rotating shaft in the housing. The housing has wiring holes in a thick-walled internal portion of an outer cylinder surrounding the outer periphery of the rotating shaft. The wiring holes are provided along an axial direction of the rotating shaft. The wiring holes receive at least upstream portions in entire lengths in a drawing-out direction of cables connected to the driving motors.

The annular groove 34a1 is provided such that a thickness t1 in a region provided with the groove bottom surface 34e0 is a thickness to allow the region to be deformable. A second transition surface 34e2, 34e2′ is provided between at least one of the first transition surfaces 34e1, 34e1′ and the groove bottom surface 34e0, the second transition surface 34e2, 34e2′ having a further reduced curvature than a curvature of the first transition surfaces.

    • In a tilting table indexing device driven by a direct-drive motor, a tilting table is prevented from rotating beyond an allowable rotation range when power is shut off in an emergency, such as power outage, and thus a breakage accident of, for example, a tool or a workpiece is reliably prevented from occurring. In a tilting table indexing device (1), in which a rotary member (3) such as a table (4) is rotated within a predetermined normal rotation angle range by a direct-drive motor (9) to tilt the table (4) and in which the tilted table (4) is held by activation of a holding mechanism (10), an elastically displaceable member (11) having a pressure receiving surface (12) is provided at one of the rotary member (3) and a frame (6) of the tilting table indexing device (1), and an engaging portion (13) capable of contacting the pressure receiving surface (12) is provided at the other of the rotary member (3) and the frame (6). When the rotary shaft (5) rotates beyond the normal rotation angle range because of free rotation of the rotary member (3) in an emergency, the elastically displaceable member (11) absorbs the kinetic energy of the rotary member (3) and stops the rotary member (3) before a danger angle range.
