The method may include: having a patient medical profile; having a concept or relationship relating to the patient medical profile; obtaining medical content relevant to the concept or relationship; determining a score of the concept or relationship to the patient medical profile; enhancing the score with a context score based on the values of attributes of the concept or relationship in the patient medical profile; enhancing the score with an additional knowledge score based on knowledge of the concept or relationship additional to the medical content; recommending medical content with respect to a patient medical profile based on the enhanced scores. The method may also include providing an explanation of a medical content recommendation based on a matching concept or relationship, including generating one or more explanation sentences based on the context score, and generating one or more explanation sentences based on the additional knowledge score.

    • Roughly described, a user instantiates protocol elements in a structured clinical trial protocol database and then draws from them in the development of one or more protocol related documents. The system helps the user select tasks to be performed during the study by reference to a historical database of tasks previously associated with similar protocols. The system automatically generates complex content from protocol elements in the database, and can render overlapping sets of protocol elements differently at different locations in the document. The system can automatically provide advisories indicating aspects of the document that still require completion or highlighting other issues that a sponsoring authority deems important for the document type. After all protocol elements are instantiated in the protocol database, it can then be used to drive the operation of most downstream aspects of the study.

Upon the creation of a nutritional substance, whether grown, raised, caught, collected or synthesized, information regarding the nutritional substance is accumulated, encoded and referenced to the particular nutritional substance. This information can be marked directly on the nutritional substance, but can instead be stored elsewhere, and referenced to the nutritional substance by means of a marking, unique identifier, a unique inherent property, unique genetic attribute, or an induced genetic attribute. A consumer of the nutritional substance can use this reference to retrieve the information regarding the creation of the particular nutritional substance.

    • An apparatus and method of retrieving relevant documents having medical research evidence receives a request to access a plurality of documents in a database stored in a memory device. Each of the plurality of documents contains information relating to medical research evidence and has an associated relational expression. The method then causes display of a user interface with a plurality of fields (a set of these fields are selectable, prescribed terms), and receives a relational expression based on information received from the user interface. The received relational expression includes at least one of the selectable, prescribed terms in the user interface. Next, the method compares the received relational expression with the relational expressions associated with at least one of the plurality of documents, and causes the display of information relating to a set of documents in the database as a function of the comparison of relational expressions.
