摘要： A firefighter's coat which has sleeve portions which cover the wrists of a firefighter who wears the coat. Each sleeve portion has an edge part adjacent a hand of the firefighter. A strip of flexible material is connected to the edge part of the sleeve portion. The strip of flexible material is adapted to be positioned between two digits of the hand of the firefighter, such as between the thumnb and the adjacent finger of the hand of the firefighter. Thus, the sleeve portion is maintained in covering relationship upon the wrist of the firefighter, even while the arms and hands of the firefighter are actively moved in a firefighting operation.

Each attachment device has a band which encompasses one of the firefighter's boots. A strap extends from the band and has fastener elements which attach to portions of the firefighter's trousers which encompass the boot. Thus, the trousers are attached to the boot.

摘要： A firefighter's boot of this invention is of a configuration and has dimensions which provide a boot which is significantly lighter in weight than a conventional boot of a firefighter which is constructed of the same material. Thus, stress upon a firefighter is significantly less than when a conventional boot is worn by the firefighter. A firefighter's boot of this invention is adapted to be worn in conjunction with firefighter's trousers which cover the legs of the firefighter. A firefighter's boot of this invention is relatively short in height and has a dimension to provide protection which, under certain conditions, may not be provided by the trousers. The firefighter's boots and trousers are adapted to be stored as a unit. The firefighter's boot of this invention is of sufficient height to extend above firefighter's trousers which are compressed around the boots for storing the boots and trousers as a unit. The boot has a hand-grasp element which may be grasped by a firefighter for donning the boot and for support of the boot.

摘要： A self-contained breathing apparatus includes a tank of compressed air and an associated connector. A coaxial conduit extends from the connector to a face plate which might be used by a first responder. Air from the tank is coupled to the face plate via an internal conduit. Exhaled air from the face mask is carried away via an external conduit that surrounds the internal conduit, at least in part, and insulates the air being coupled to the face plate from ambient temperatures. The breathable air, flowing in the internal conduit also cools the exhaled air in the external conduit prior to that air flushing spaces between protective layers of the first responder's coat.

摘要： In an ensemble for a firefighter or for an emergency rescue worker, protective trousers and a protective coat are provided with elastomeric gaskets, such as neoprene gaskets, one of which lines an inside surface of a distal margin of each leg of the protective trousers and is adapted to be snugly stretched around a protective boot, another of which lines an inside surface of a distal margin of each arm of the protective coat and is adapted to be snugly stretched around a protective glove, and another of which lines an inside surface of a lower margin of the protective coat and is adapted to be snugly stretched around the protective trousers. Such gaskets extend from and, preferably, are unitary with liners, such as neoprene liners, which provide moisture and/or chemical barriers. When stretched snugly, such gaskets inhibit ingress of potentially harmful materials, whether gaseous, liquid, or particulate.

A protective ensemble comprises the protective garment, a helmet, which is adapted to be worn over a head-covering portion of the protective garment, and a pair of gloves, each of which is adapted to be worn over a hand-covering portion of the protective garment.
