摘要： This invention relates to photographic processes for the formation of positive, metal, nonsilver halide photographic images and to photographic elements for carrying out these processes. A photographic element having a metal, e.g., silver, surface or a surface having thereon nonsilver halide nuclei, e.g., silver particles, and a photoreactive composition comprising a spectral sensitizing dye, a mercaptan and an Alpha , Beta unsaturated monomer, adsorbed to said surface or nuclei which inhibits the removal of said metal or nuclei by chemical solvents or bleaching agents is featured in the present process. Upon imagewise exposure of said element to light, the inhibiting effect of the photoreactive composition is destroyed; and subsequent treatment with a bleaching agent removes the exposed metal surface or nonsilver halide nuclei, resulting in the formation of a direct positive metal photographic image or an active site capable of physical development to a negative metal photographic image.

摘要： The systems disclosed herein record information on an amorphous thin film by applying light to selected regions of the film. The temperature in these regions increases to the point where the film softens. Upon removal of the light the film returns to the solid phase leaving enclosed voids in the film. The information can be read from the amorphous film by irradiating the film with light of a wavelength in the order of magnitude of the size of the voids. The light is scattered or absorbed by multiple reflections produced by the voids allowing the selected regions to be readily detected. In order to erase the information the amorphous film is heated to the softening point, but not to a temperature as high as the temperature reached during recording. The softened amorphous film flows into the voids erasing the stored information.

摘要： A dry diazo reproduction process for making positive diazo-type copies is described. The process comprises exposing an image pattern and a diazo sheet material containing a diazo compound, an azo coupler, a semiconductor pigment, preferably sensitized with an organic dye, and a compound which causes upon reduction a shift in pH in the basic region in the diazo sheet material to a UV radiation source and thereafter developing the diazo sheet by exposure to radiation of a different wavelength than used in the exposure step. In addition, the diazo sheet material used in the process is also described.

An article, comprising the composition coated on a substrate, is exposed to suitable light where upon the exposed areas become hydrophilic. Treatment of the exposed article with a dye or pigment in water solution or suspension results in a usable pattern in accordance with the image areas. Selective etching of a metallic substrate by water soluble etchants is also disclosed.
