摘要： In a heating/cooling unit for selectively heating or cooling a set of dies, oil received in a reservoir is supplied to a flow direction changeover valve by a first oil pump. In a stably mode, oil is returned to the reservoir through the changeover valve and a heat exchanger. In a heating mode, the oil is supplied to a second oil pump from the changeover valve through a check valve. The second oil pump supplies the oil to an oil heater, and the heated oil is introduced into a fluid path formed in the dies to heat the dies. The oil discharged from the fluid path of the dies is returned to the second oil pump. Thus, the heated oil is circulated in a closed loop in the heating mode. In a cooling mode, new oil is supplied to the fluid path of the dies from the changeover valve and the oil discharged from the fluid path is guided to the heat exchanger through a switching valve and the cooling oil is returned to the reservoir.

The molds are clamped by a suitable number of clamp assemblies for clamping the flanges of the molds so that the molds are secured together with the mating surfaces in contact with each other. The clamp assembly includes a pair of clamp members for engagement with the flanges of the molds, a shaft passing through the clamp members, a first stop member provided on the shaft for engagement with one of the clamp members, a spacer provided on the shaft for axial slidable movement and adapted for engagement with the other of the clamp members, a second stop member provided on the shaft for engagement with the spacer at an end opposite to the other of the clamp members. The shaft is made of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion which is smaller than that of a material from which the spacer is made so that the spacer has a thermal expansion in the axial direction which is not smaller than a thermal expansion in the axial direction of the shaft under the same temperature increase.

摘要： A process for forming a continuous strand preformable mat is disclosed which consists of applying a binder matrix material which includes a thermosetting polyester binder material and a thermoplastic polyester binder to the continuous strand mat. The mat is heated such that the thermosetting binder material cures and hardens while the thermoplastic binder material softens and flows around strand intersections. The mat is thereafter cooled in order to solidify the thermoplastic polyester material of the binder matrix for additional handling for packaging and for subsequent handling by the customer. The preforms are made by heating the mat to over 200.degree. F., placing in a cold mold, and then closing the mold to form and solidify the mat shape.

The band is comprised of individual laminate sheets that are pre-impregnated with a high fracture toughness resin that resists microtears. The individual sheets of the band are stitched together thereby enhancing the interlaminar shear resistance of the band. The curing process is expedited by co-curing the band, positioned in place, over the tire carcass. A plastic film covers the interface between the band and adjacent rubber to prevent contamination of the interface materials.
