    • An improved ampul is disclosed. The ampul of this invention comprises a hollow tubular or cylindrical container composed of glass or other breakable material having a reservoir chamber and an upstanding wall portion terminating in a sealable stem or tip portion, and includes a collecting chamber located between the reservoir chamber and stem portion. Upon breaking of the ampul above the collecting chamber, any particles so formed are trapped in the collecting chamber and thus introduction of such matter into the contents of the ampul is markedly reduced.

    • A molded plastic container and closure assembly comprises a container having an upstanding wall adapted to be embraced by the depending skirt of a closure member. To resist tampering or unauthorized removal of the closure, the container has an integrally molded wall means projecting radially outwardly therefrom forming a channel to receive the lower end of the depending skirt. Annular beads formed on the interior wall of the depending skirt cooperate with a bead formed at the free edge of the container opening and with a relatively smooth outer skirt surface to restrict closure removal until the aforementioned wall means are torn away from the container. To facilitate such tearing, the wall means are provided with finger-engageable means and with suitably located weakenings to enable a tearing removal of the wall means by manual gripping and pulling of the finger-engageable means. In a modification, the central portion of the closure is recessed so as to project into the container and brace the interior sidewall of the container against radially inwardly directed forces.

    • A plastic cap is adapted for use with a bottle neck having two spaced grooves formed in the outer surface thereof the upper one of said grooves being spaced from the top edge of the neck so as to define smooth sealing surfaces above, between and below said grooves. The cap has a pair of inwardly directed circumferential beads formed on an inner surface of a thin-walled skirt that depends from a disc-shaped top of the cap. The beads are positioned so that they fit in the grooves when the cap is in place on the neck and form an interference fit with the edges of the grooves to prevent inadvertent removal of the cap. The beads are of such a size that they do not fill the grooves thereby allowing for a large contact area between the inner skirt surface and the sealing surfaces of the neck. A circumferential score line is formed about the skirt between the beads and connects with a spiral score line extending to the bottom edge of the cap adjacent to an upper side of a horizontal tear tab formed at the bottom edge of the skirt, said tear tab being partially connected to the bottom edge of the skirt by a short horizontal continuation of the score line.

    • A cap adapted to be received on the neck of storage vessels or the like. Disclosed is a cap including a body having a cavity which slidably receives a sealing member partially surrounded by a compression ring. That portion of the cavity adjacent its point of emergence from the body includes an outwardly flared wall and the compression ring and sealing member are similarly configured so as to enter the outwardly flared portion for one position of the sealing member with the cavity. To effectuate a seal, the body is forced toward the neck of a storage vessel to drive the sealing member inwardly into the cavity. During such movement, the flared portion of the sealing member is urged into tight sealing engagement with the neck of the storage vessel by reason of the configuration of the cavity.
