    • An intra-urethral device that can be used to inhibit leakage of urine due to incontinence is provided. The intra-urethral device can include a urethral plug made from a biocompatible, flexible material, and can be formed into an oblong shape so as to better correspond to the contours of the female urinary tract. In some instances, the intra-urethral device can also include an insertion element that can facilitate self-insertion and the ability of a fluid seal to form between the urethral plug and the walls of the urethra. Furthermore, in some instances, various mechanisms can be provided to keep the intra-urethral device substantially sterile throughout the insertion process.

    • A system for placing an implant in the body includes an elongated member having at least one inner lumen extending from a proximal end portion of the member to an opening in a distal end portion of the member. At least one compressible implant is in the inner lumen of the member. The implant optionally includes anchor members projecting from its outer surface to limit migration of the implant in the body. Structure is provided to push the implant through the opening in the distal end portion of the member. The implant is placed between layers of body tissue to bulk the tissue. In one of the disclosed methods, the system is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) by placing the implant between layers of body tissue at or near the gastro-esophageal junction.

    • A penile clamp for inhibiting male incontinence is provided as a single, unitary, synthetic resin body having a pair of jaw-like arms, a bridge interconnecting the arms and biasing them to a penis clamping position, and a pair of ears. The ears may be pinched together to spread apart the arms, thereby permitting insertion of a penis between the arms. One of the arms includes a penis-cradling area which is concave to conform to the top of the penis, while the other arm includes a urethral pressuring area which is preferably convex to apply pressure directly against the underside of the penis outside of the urethra. The pressuring area may be either a cantilever spring extending toward the bridge from the remote end of the second arm, or an area of the second arm between its proximate and remote ends. The arms are connected to the bridge at their proximate ends and presenting an opening across from the bridge opposite their remote ends. The penis-cradling area is preferably relatively wide in comparison to the pressure applying area which is relatively narrow and thus reduces the amount of compressive force which is provided to the arms to clamp the urethra closed at one point therealong and inhibit the undesired flow of urine therepast. The user may selectively urinate in a discrete and private manner simply by pinching together the ears to spread the arms and relieve pressure on the urethra.

According to the invention: the sensor part is detachably attached to the frame part (1), which makes it exchangeable regarding to every patient; the sensors (3) are placed on the sides of the sensor-part-tube, on both sides of the center of the side; and the sensors (3) are electrodes which are arranged to measure the muscle activity of the pelvic floor muscles with the help of the electrical signal produced by them.
