    • An event-triggered dynamic landmark creation system includes a management system and tracking devices attached to mobile objects. Each tracking device is configured to wirelessly transmit information pertaining to current time, identification and location of tracking devices, and status of mobile objects. The management system is configured to wirelessly communicate with each tracking device and is operable: to receive information transmitted from each tracking device; in response to occurrence of an initial event respecting status of a first mobile object, to create a non-physical dynamic landmark about the first mobile object relative to location of a first tracking device attached thereto; and in response to occurrence of successive subsequent events respecting location of a second tracking device attached to a second mobile object, to record a visit of the second mobile object within the dynamic landmark about the location of the first mobile.

    • In one embodiment, a mobile device generates sensor data configured to describe a geographic position of a mobile device. A list of events is defined according to position data and time data. The geographic position of the mobile device is compared to positions in the list of events of interest and a current time is compared to time data in the list of events of interest. The comparison determines whether events in the list are in range of the mobile device. One or more nearby events in range of the mobile device at the current time or a future time are selected. A command is generated to capture an image of the nearby events using a camera coupled to the mobile device. The captured images may be used to update navigation or map database, provide community or weather data to other users, social media functions, or other features.

    • In general, techniques, devices, and systems for filtering location information received from multiple computing devices are described. In one example, a method includes receiving a first plurality of location indicators from a first mobile computing device and a second plurality of location indicators from a second mobile computing device, wherein the first and second computing devices are both associated with a single user and the first and second pluralities of location indicators are representative of geographical locations at which each of the respective first and second mobile computing devices has been located. The method may also include determining a subset of the location indicators for a period of time, all location indicators included in the subset being associated with the one of the first or second mobile computing devices that moved with the user during the period of time, and outputting information related to the subset of the location indicators.
