    • A content delivery network (CDN) service provider extends a content delivery network to gather information on atomically identifiable web clients (called “user agents”) as such computer-implemented entities interact with the CDN across different domains being managed by the CDN service provider. In one embodiment, a set of machines, processes, programs, and data comprise a data system. The data system tracks user agents, preferably via cookies, although one or more passive techniques may be used. A user agent may be a cookie-able device having a cookie store. As the user agent navigates across sites, a CDN-specific unique identifier used by the system to correlate user agents is generated. Preferably, the unique identifier is stored as an encrypted cookie. The unique identifier represents one user agent (and, thus, one cookie-able device's store). The system tracks user agent behavior on and across customer sites that are served by the CDN, and these behaviors are classified into identifiable “segments” that may be used to create a profile. CDN customers use the data system to obtain information that characterizes the user agent.

    • A reduced pressure treatment appliance is provided for treating a wound on the body of a patient. In some embodiments, the appliance comprises an overlay, which is further comprised of cup members that may be detached or cut away from the overlay so that the overlay can be adjusted in size and shape. Also, in some embodiments, the overlay is further comprised of a pressure venting valve to maintain a predetermined level of reduced pressure at the site of the wound. In other embodiments, the wound treatment appliance also includes a vacuum system to supply reduced pressure to the site of the wound in the volume under the overlay. In yet other embodiments, the treatment appliance also includes wound packing means to prevent overgrowth of the wound or to encourage growth of wound tissue into an absorbable matrix comprising the wound packing means. In still other embodiments, a suction bulb may be used to provide a source of reduced pressure to an overlay that covers the wound. Finally, methods are provided for using various embodiments of the treatment appliance.

    • A system and related techniques capture and regulate the stream of billing items generated in a hospital or other clinical facility for compliance with federal Medicare or other regulatory or other guidelines. In embodiments a conditioning engine may apply rules-based logic or other filters to raw billing information derived from clinical tests, procedures, prescriptions or other patient encounters or care. That raw billing information may be examined for compliance with current regulatory or other guidelines against a compliance database or template, to determine for example whether clinical lab or test records, charts or other necessary documentation exists to support a billed item and satisfy reimbursement guidelines. Billing items whose supporting documentation does not exist or requires further exploration may be conveyed to a holds queue, to hold the billing on those items until documentation may be resolved. Administrators and others may then examine held items for release and bill drop. Because billing items are conditioned to satisfy Medicare or other standards prior to transmission of a bill or invoice, compliance may be assured or significantly enhanced as compared to prior industry practices such as retroactive audits for Medicare compliance.
