    • A vehicle speed control method comprises the steps of calculating a time difference between a predetermined period of time corresponding with a desired speed and the actual period of time corresponding with the actual vehicle speed, calculating a time difference between the respective actual periods of time, detecting each value of the calculated time differences in its low resolution related to a predetermined low speed range when the actual period of time represents a value in the predetermined low speed range, detecting each value of the calculated time differences in its high resolution related to a predetermined high speed range when the actual period of time represents a value in the predetermined high speed range, and producing a correction signal related to one of the detected values such that an output signal is produced to actuate a control element so as to control the quantity of fuel supplied into a combustion engine.

    • A rotary actuator for imparting a rotational force to a rotary valve member of a multi-way valve device has a cylindrical housing and an electric motor housed therein and being operative to produce a torque corresponding to the input current supplied to the motor. The motor shaft is hollow and rotatably journalled by the end walls of the motor housing. A torsion bar is housed in the shaft and fixed at one end to one end of the shaft. The other end of the torsion bar is fixed to the housing so that, when rotational force is imparted by the motor to the shaft and thus the rotary valve member connected thereto, the torsion bar produces a return force applied to the shaft. The angular position of the other end of the torsion bar about the axis thereof is adjustable within a limited range. The actuator is suited to impart a rotational motion of less than 180.degree. and provides a reduced hysteresis in the rotation characteristics.

    • A vehicle speed control system includes a first generator for producing an operation signal upon closure of a set switch at a desired vehicle speed and receipt of a timing signal from a second generator responsive to the actual vehicle speed, the operation signal disappearing in response to one of the subsequent timing signals. A first calculator calculates a first time difference between predetermined and instant time periods respectively defined by the desired and actual vehicle speeds, and a second calculator calculates a second time difference between the respective instant time periods. A third generator produces a correction signal defined by the second time difference during generation of the operation signal and produces another correction signal defined by the sum or a difference of the time differences in relation to identical or opposite signs of the time differences after disappearance of the operation signal. A distribution circuit is responsive to one of the correction signals to produce an output signal relative to the sign of the second time difference such that an actuator controls an engine throttle opening angle.

    • An apparatus for controlling an ignition coil of internal combustion engines including a power transistor connected to the primary winding of an ignition coil for controlling the energization and deenergization of the primary winding in response to a signal applied to the base of the power transistor. A feedback circuit, including a constant voltage diode, a capacitor and a resistor, is connected between the collector and base of the power transistor. When the power transistor becomes conductive from a nonconductive condition, a collector current of the power transistor flows through the capacitor and constant voltage diode due to the Miller integrator effect and the transition from nonconduction to conduction of the power transistor is made gradual thereby reducing a voltage generated in the secondary winding of the ignition coil.On the contrary, when the power transistor becomes nonconductive from the conductive condition, the constant voltage diode is rendered conductive due to a high voltage generated at the collector of the power transistor to allow a base current to flow and in turn to allow a collector current thereby preventing breakdown of the power transistor.
