    • To use a zoom lens mechanism in visible light, a switch is turned off. By force of a spring, a cam pin of a correction lens is contacted with a first edge of a cam groove which is formed to have a shape which corrects a focal inadequacy resulting from a movement of a variable magnification lens in visible light. Accordingly, the movement of the correction lens is controlled by the first edge. To use the zoom lens mechanism in near infrared light, the switch is turned on. By magnetic force of an electromagnet, the cam pin is contacted with a second edge of the cam groove which is formed to have a shape which corrects the focal inadequacy resulting from the movement of the variable magnification lens in near infrared light. Accordingly, the movement of the correction lens is controlled by the second edge.

    • An overvoltage protection device connected between an AC plug and an electronic device, comprises a first AC pattern having first and second concave circular arc sections and a first peak point, a second AC pattern having third and fourth concave circular arc sections and a second peak point, and a frame ground pattern having a fifth concave circular arc section with the first peak point as a center and a sixth concave circular arc section with the second peak point as a center, both ends of the fifth concave circular arc section being located at centers of the first and second concave circular arc sections, and both ends of the sixth concave circular arc section being located at centers of the third and fourth concave circular arc sections. If an overvoltage is applied to any of the first and second AC patterns, a discharge occurs across any of the AC pattern and the frame ground pattern, allowing the overvoltage to escape to ground. It is thus possible to prevent destruction of the electronic device resulting from the application of the overvoltage.

    • A cleaning apparatus for a fixed volume, rotary filling apparatus. A rocking cam mechanism drives metering cylinder units. During cleaning, the rocking cam mechanism brings the individual pistons of several metering cylinder units to a common elevation, and a rotatable member lowers the corresponding cylinders so as to relatively slidably displace the pistons and the cylinders to a greater degree than during a normal filling operation, to enable seals (which normally seal the cylinder during the filling operation) to be separated from each other to define a cleaning passage therebetween. A valve mechanism selectively swtiches communication of the metering cylinder unit between a tank to be filled and the filling nozzle, during the normal filling operation, by changing paths formed in the sliding surfaces of a valve housing and a valve element by relative displacement therebetween. The valve housing and the valve element are relatively movable between a filling position, and a cleaning position. The sliding surfaces are separated from each other in such cleaning position to define a cleaning passage therebetween.

    • A rotary hearth finish annealing furnace includes coil tables carrying thereon steel plate coils to be annealed with their axes being vertical, a hearth traveling along a circle having a predetermined radius and supporting thereabove the coil tables, inner covers covering the coils on the coil tables, and a protective cover covering the above members over a predetermined distance.According to the invention, heating means for heating the coils are arranged at a level above upper ends of the steel plate coils. In a preferred embodiment, the coil tables are arranged so as to permit the coils to be arranged thereon in at least two circular rows on a single plane concentric to said traveling circle of the hearth. Moreover, portions of the hearth subjected to loads of the coils and coil tables are made of comparatively high strength bricks and the other portions are made of a light weight refractory material. With these arrangement, the furnace according to the invention operates with a high thermal efficiency to greatly save the energy required for its operation.
