摘要： Variations occur in the characteristics of transistors. The present invention is a signal-line drive circuit comprising first and second current source circuits corresponding to respective plurality of signal lines, a shift register, and n (n is a natural number of one or more) video-signal constant current source s, wherein each of the first and second current source circuits has a capacitance means and a supply means. The capacitance means held in one of the first and second source circuits converts a current including a current supplied from each of the n video-signal constant current source s to voltage in response to a sampling pulse supplied from the shift register and a latch pulse supplied from the exterior; and the supply means held in the other supplies a current responsive to the converted voltage. The values of the currents supplied from the n video-signal constant current source s are set to a proportion of 20:21: . . . :2n.

摘要： To provide a novel driving method for driving an electronic device by using digital gray scale and time gray scale in combination, which secures high duty ratio, which can display an image normally even when a sustain period is shorter than an address period, and which is hardly affected by dulled signal waveform. In a sub-frame period (102) where a sustain period is shorter than an address period, a clear period (105) is squeezed in between completion of a sustain period (104) and start of an address period of the subsequent sub-frame period. The length of the sustain period (104) thus can be set without being limited by the length of an address period (103). This non-display period is provided by changing the electric potential of a storage capacitor line. Therefore, unlike the case where the non-display period is provided by changing the electric potential of a cathode wiring, the present invention is hardly affected by dulled signal waveform.

摘要： In a conventional display device using light emitting elements, white color cannot be accurately displayed since the luminance of each sub-pixel varies for each color. Therefore, in order to achieve the uniformity in luminance of each sub-pixel, the amount of current or the current density flowing in light emitting elements is required to be changed for each color. In that case, a power source is necessarily provided for each color, thus an external circuit is increased, leading to increase in the cost and power consumption. According to the invention, a variable channel-size MOS transistor is used as a transistor for driving a light emitting element. When a signal voltage applied to a control gate is controlled for each sub-pixel, the amount of current or the current density flowing in light emitting elements can be adjusted and luminance of each sub-pixel can also be adjusted for each color.

摘要： An electro-optical device is provided having a pixel portion with a novel structure, and in which display irregularities such as crosstalk, which develop due to a drop in voltage caused by the wiring resistance of electric current supply lines in an electro-optical device, are improved upon. Attention is drawn to the fact that during a period in which write in of a signal to a pixel from a signal line is not performed, a signal is not input to a source signal line and to a gate signal line, but are at a fixed electric potential. An electric current supply line and a source signal line, or an electric current supply line and a gate signal line, are connected through a switching transistor. A signal is input to a connection control line during a sustain period, and the connection transistor is made conductive. The source signal line or the gate signal line is therefore utilized as a pathway for supplying electric current to the EL element.
