摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a latent electrostatic image forming unit, a developing unit, an intermediate transferring unit which has an intermediate transfer belt and a plurality of rollers supporting the intermediate transfer belt, and a transfer fixing unit. The transfer fixing unit has a transfer fixing belt, a plurality of rollers supporting the transfer fixing belt, a heating member, and a pressurizing member forming a transfer fixing nip with the transfer fixing belt. A first roller, which is one of the plurality of rollers supporting the intermediate transferring belt, is opposite to a second roller, which is one of the plurality of rollers supporting the fixing transfer belt. The first roller and the second roller form a transfer nip between the intermediate transferring belt and the fixing transfer belt. The diameter of the first roller is smaller than the diameter of the second roller.

摘要： An image transfer device provided in an image forming apparatus in which, employing an endless belt as an intermediate transfer member, image transfer is performed at nip positions of a primary transfer portion and secondary transfer portion. Generation of warp in the transferred image resulting from transmission of fluctuations in load and torque of the endless belt generated at the nip position of one transfer portion nip to the nip position of the other transfer portion is prevented. The endless belt is turned between rollers and the endless belt is individually driven at the primary transfer portion and secondary transfer portion by drive sources to generate deflection between the primary transfer portion and the secondary transfer portion.

摘要： This patent specification describes an image forming apparatus which includes a first member having a surface endlessly moving in a specific direction a second member having a surface endlessly moving in the specific direction at a region facing the surface of the first member, and a supporting member to hold the second member and to move together with the second member. The supporting member includes a release mechanism to release an engagement of the supporting member from the second member. Further, a pressing member is included to press the second member via the supporting member to cause the second member to contact the first member under pressure to form a nip between the first and second members. The release mechanism releases the engagement of the supporting member from the second member when the second member is pushed away by a leading edge of a recording medium having a thickness greater than a reference thickness value.

摘要： An image forming device for avoiding a concentrated contact of transfer means, including rollers, with sheet edges in a prescribed position and preventing an earlier replacement of fixing rollers in an image forming section, etc., caused by their surface exfoliation, is provided. The device has a movable member for regulating the positioning of the sheet edges parallel to the transfer direction of a sheet on a transfer passage. A regulating position for positioning the sheet by the movable member, i.e., the position of the sheet transferred to the image forming section, is randomly changed and a write-in position in the image forming section is changed conforming to the position of the sheet to make the regulating position of the movable member changeable. Thus, the concentrated contact of the transfer means with the sheet edges is avoided and the earlier replacement of the fixing rollers, etc., is prevented.

摘要： A binding device associated with an image forming apparatus for binding a stack of recording sheets each carrying an image formed by the image forming apparatus. After a cover sheet at least twice as large in size as the recording sheets has been laid on the stack, a staple or staples are driven into the cover sheet and underlying recording sheets to staple them together. Subsequently, the cover sheet is folded at substantially the center thereof in such a manner as to wrap the stapled stack. Binding means is located at the right-hand side or the left-hand side and capable of binding the stack at the right binding margin or the left binding margin, as desired by rotating the image formed on a sheet 180 degrees.

摘要： An image reproducing device includes a container for storing a strip-like photosensitive material in a condition that the photosensitive material is rolled, the photosensitive material having a mark at a predetermined length from a final end thereof. Rollers pull out the rolled photosensitive material from the container and convey the photosensitive material. A cutter cuts the conveyed photosensitive material into a sheet-like photosensitive sheets one by one. A pair of developing rollers roll the cut photosensitive sheet put together with a transfer sheet between which a developer-containing pod is interposed. A detector detects the marking of the conveyed photosensitive material, and a controller inhibits the cutter from cutting the photosensitive material in a case where the detector detects the mark of the conveyed photosensitive material.
