    • A method for dispensing a liquid includes providing a container having a top, a bottom, a first opening at the top and a second opening proximal the bottom; providing a liquid dispensing bag including a flexible pouch having a top, a bottom, and first and second panels, the first and second panels defining an interior and a first opening to the interior at the bag top, wherein at least one of the first and second panels defines a second opening to the interior near the bag bottom, and wherein the bag further includes liquid dispensing apparatus including a tube connected to the pouch to permit a controlled flow of liquid from the second opening of the pouch, and wherein the first and second panels are connected together at the pouch top to releasably close the first pouch opening. The first pouch opening is opening by separating the first and second panels from each other at the top of the pouch, and the bag is positioned in the container with the tube extending out through the second opening of the container. Liquid is inserted into the bag interior, and liquid dispensing apparatus is actuated to selectively release the liquid out through the tube.

    • A communications assembly comprising thin acoustic tubing and an ear insert or an earpiece/extension is disclosed. The ear insert can comprise a reusable foam ear insert. The earpiece can be configured to be captured within a wearer's conchae. The extension can be attached to the earpiece and can be configured to be inserted into the wearer's ear canal. The thin acoustic tube can be configured to communicate sound to the ear insert or earpiece/extension. The use of thin acoustic tubing in combination with an unobtrusive ear insert or earpiece/extension provides an inconspicuous communications assembly that is suited for use in covert operations.

    • The present invention automatically detects the sabotage of an audio transducer such as a microphone in a security system device. An audio transducer generates an electrical signal, which is analyzed to determine if the electrical signal exhibits a predetermined sabotage characteristic. If the electrical signal does exhibit a predetermined sabotage characteristic, then an alarm device trouble signal is transmitted to an alarm control panel for further processing. If, however, the electrical signal does not exhibit a predetermined sabotage characteristic, then the electrical signal is analyzed to determine if the electrical signal exhibits a predetermined alarm characteristic. If the electrical signal does exhibit a predetermined alarm characteristic, then an alarm signal is transmitted to the alarm control panel for further processing.

    • The present invention relates generally to separation of ions based on their transport properties. More particularly, the invention relates to separation of ionic mixtures and characterization of ions in gases using higher-order differential ion mobility spectrometry (HODIMS) enabled by asymmetric waveforms of fundamentally new types. The invention discloses a method and apparatus for separation of ionic mixtures and characterization, identification, or quantification of ions in a gas based substantially on the terms of third or higher order in a series expansion of ion mobility as a function of electric field intensity. This is achieved using a periodic, time-dependent electric field with novel waveform profiles that cancel or substantially reduce the contributions to time-averaged ion motion of the leading n (where n≧2) terms of that expansion, thereby achieving ion separations based substantially on the (n+1)th term. Separations using HODIMS with different n are expected to be highly orthogonal, enabling multidimensional separations employing HODIMS analyzers of different orders. The expected high orthogonality between HODIMS and mass spectrometry or ion mobility spectrometry would make HODIMS/MS and HODIMS/IMS combinations powerful analytical tools of broad utility.
