    • A rack-mounted KVM module is configured for a server rack. An L-shaped supporting frame, which has a vertical plane and a horizontal plane, is coupled to the sever rack. A flat panel display is coupled to the vertical sliding rail to move along the L-shaped supporting frame horizontally. A keyboard module is coupled to the horizontal sliding rail to move along the L-shaped supporting frame horizontally. A positioning mechanism is disposed in the horizontal sliding rail. The positioning mechanism consists mainly of an outer rail, an inner rail, a link bracket, a latch and a positioning switch. The latch is swiveled to engage a notch of the latch in a block portion of the outer rail or to remove the notch thereof from the block portion to respectively lock or unlock a fixed position when the link bracket is slid along the inner rail by moving the positioning switch.

    • A desktop sharing and remote control system where a server and a client are connected by a USB cable. Either the server or the client includes an ASIC/CPLD/FPGA which is a PC-to-PC USB connection bridge. The ASIC/CPLD/FPGA enumerates a first standard USB mass storage device to the server and a second standard USB mass storage device to the client.     • Disclosed is a KVM switch identifying a peripheral for at least one computer coupled thereto. The KVM switch comprises a memory and a KVM control module. The memory stores identification data responded by the peripheral while the peripheral is being initialized by the KVM switch and stores an initializing command generated by the computer when the computer requests the identification data. The KVM control module sends the initializing command stored in the memory to the peripheral to request the identification data when the peripheral is connected to the KVM switch and replies to the computer with the identification data stored in the memory when the computer requests the identification data for identifying the peripheral. The KVM control module also updates the initializing command stored in the memory if a new initializing command is generated by the computer.

    • In a KVM switch system in which one or more consoles and one or more computers are connected to a KVM switch via dongles (console dongles and computer dongles, respectively), a method is provided for transferring the extended display identification data (EDID) of a display of a console to a computer. When the console is booted, the corresponding console dongle queries the display to obtain its EDID, and transmits it to the computer dongle via the KVM switch. The computer dongle stores the received EDID in its memory. The computer dongle also stores a default EDID in its memory. When the computer queries EDID, the computer dongle provides either the received EDID to the computer, or provide the default EDID if no EDID has been received from the KVM switch.
