    • There is described a universal bracket for securing between stud partitions, timberwork or the like for the installation equipment, fixtures and fittings, plasterboard and similar elements or materials, which bracket consists of two elongate elements of substantially the same profile, made of a sheet material in such manner that each element has a relatively broad central part which is defined by longitudinally flanged edge portions, and wherein at the opposite free ends of said respective elements there is provided an end piece, the said two elements being dimensioned and adapted so that they fit into each other and can be displaced in the longitudinal direction, thus providing a telescopically adjustable nullbeamnull that is torsion-proof and can readily be adapted to the width between wooden or steel studs, steel frames or timberwork and can easily be fastened thereto by fasteners provided in the said end pieces.

    • A bracket for aiding in the mounting of a course of wallboards onto a frame of vertical studs including a channel having a short leg joined to a long panel and a punched out nailer extending from the long panel. First, the pointed free end of the nailer is driven into a stud permitting the user to check alignment of a row of the brackets before permanently securing each bracket to its respective stud by driving nails through apertures in the bracket into the stud. The board is then supported in the bracket against the stud and nailed to the stud. The bracket has a line of perforations that permits snapping the exposed part of the bracket from the stud.

    • A plurality of studs (14) are spaced apart relative to each other. Upper end portions (32) of the studs fit into an upper channel space (22) and lower end portions (34) fit into a lower channel space (30). The lower channel space (30) is defined in part by a pair of spaced apart sidewalls (24, 26). Screw fasteners (52) extend through the sidewalls (24, 26) and connect them to the lower end portion (34) of the stud (14). The studs (14) have upper ends that are spaced from a web (20) forming the upper boundary of the upper channel space (22). Vertical elongated slots (48, 50) are provided in the sidewalls (38, 40) of the studs (14). Screw fasteners extend through the sidewalls (16, 18) of the upper channel member (10) and then extend into and through the slots (48, 50). The heads of the screw fasteners (52) bear against the sidewalls (16, 18) when the screw fasteners (52) are tightened. This firmly connects the screw fasteners (52) to the sidewalls (16, 18), but there is no connection of the screw fasteners (52) to the upper end portions of the studs (14). When the screw fasteners (52) are tightened, there is no clamping action between the heads (54) of the screw fasteners (52) and the upper end portions (32) of the studs (14). As a result, the studs (14) are completely free to move up and down relative to the upper channel member (10), within limits established by the lengths of the slots (48, 50).

    • A framing assembly and associated method of orienting and supporting a plurality of framing studs for constructing a curved wall through the utilization of a base formed of a high strength, flexible and at least partially separable material comprising a plurality of base segments which are disposed in interconnecting relation to spaced apart outwardly extending the sidewalls disposed in substantially parallel relation to one another. The plurality of base segments are removably secured to one another but are separable when the base is disposed in an operative position defined by a curved orientation which substantially corresponds to the curved wall or like structure being formed. The operative position is further defined by the plurality of base segments disposed in overlapping engagement with one another and an innermost one of the sidewalls separated into portions are overlapped and fixed so as to shorten the longitudinal dimension thereof and stabilize the framing assembly once the correct operative position of the base has been established.

    • A wall framework includes top and bottom tracks, a horizontal channel and vertical studs. A first vertical stud is secured to the top track and the bottom track and has a first opening sized and shaped to permit the horizontal channel to extend therethrough and a second opening vertically spaced from the first opening. A second vertical stud is secured to the top track and the bottom track and has a third opening sized and shaped to permit the channel to extend therethrough and a fourth opening vertically spaced from the fourth opening. At least one clip extends through the first opening and the second opening. A fastener connects the horizontal channel to the clip. The clip cooperates with the fastener to secure the horizontal channel in a fixed relationship to the first vertical stud.
