    • An aircraft divan, for use within a passenger compartment of an aircraft, that includes a strong rigid base structure adapted to be secured to a support surface within the aircraft and including a plurality of substantially strong, yet lightweight frame members. A plurality of substantially strong, yet lightweight connectors, each one of the connectors being structured and disposed to connectingly receive at least two of the frame members, including an exterior wall structure defining at least one interior cavity and at least two frame member receiving openings, and comprising a first interlocking segment and a second interlocking segment, the first interlocking segment structured to at least partially receive the second interlocking segment and the first and second interlocking segments being structured to be interlockingly connected with one another in sandwiching relation about at least one end zone of the frame members. Moreover, each of the frame member receiving openings is structured and disposed to receive and surround one of the end zones of one of the frame members therethrough and to maintain the end zone of the frame member fastened in a secured, fixed position within the interior cavity of the connector.

    • An attenuated aircraft seat back assembly for use on an aircraft passenger seat of the type which includes a seat back frame with a front side and a rear side, the attenuated assembly comprising a mount assembly structured to be secured at the rear side of the seat back frame, preferably at an upper end thereof, and an impact absorbent, generally rigid material panel fixedly secured thereto. The mount assembly is structured to securely maintain the rigid material panel in a generally parallel orientation relative to the seat back frame, and spaced apart from the seat back frame by a predetermined distance. The rigid material panel, which is sized and configured to shield an upper region of the seat back frame, is substantially lightweight and includes a honeycomb interior core structured and disposed to substantially resist the force of a direct impact thereto, while still yielding sufficiently so that an object impacting the rigid material panel will have a Head Injury Criteria (HIC) value which is acceptable under current Federal Aviation Administration regulations. Preferably, an energy absorbent, resilient material panel is adhered to a front face of the rigid material panel, and together have a combined thickness of generally about two inches, while being spaced apart from the seat back frame in assembled form so as to minimize an overall thickness of the assembly.

    • An aircraft seat frame including a seat back portion, a seat foundation portion, and a seat base portion, the seat back portion having a pair of generally vertically disposed side rails composed of three interconnected segments, a leading and a trailing edge segments of which are perpendicularly disposed on opposing sides of an interior segment, thereby substantially minimizing an overall weight of the side rails and maximizing the side rails resistance to horizontal bending across a plane of the leading and trailing segments. Further, the seat frame includes a load transference member spanning the side rails so as to evenly distribute a load exerted on only a single of the side rails over both side rails and over the corresponding seat side rails to which the seat back side rails are connected. Further, the frame includes a seat base portion having a pair of seat side rails with support members pivotally secured at opposite ends thereof, the support members being fixedly secured to an underlying support surface.
