    • A hanger for use in conveyors comprises an upper frame suspendable from a free trolley, a lower frame for loading thereon the article to be transported, and a pair of front and rear arms interconnecting the upper and lower frames and so inclined as to approach each other as the arms extend toward lower ends thereof. The arms have upper ends pivotably connected to the upper frame and have their lower ends pivotably connected to the lower frame. The front and rear arms, the portion of the upper frame between the arm upper ends and the portion of the lower frame between the arm lower ends are connected together in the form of a trapezoid which is shorter at its lower side than at its upper side when seen from one side with the upper and lower frames in a horizontal state. The article, such as a vehicle body, being transported can be plunged into or withdrawn from the bath of an electrodeposition tank in a coating line at a predetermined large angle without giving a large angle of inclination to a free rail.

    • In a traveling inspection robot system, two carriages are each provided with one pair of guide rollers for guiding the travel in the vertical direction and two pairs of side rollers for guiding the travel in the horizontal direction. The two pairs of side rollers are arranged such that one pair locates on each of the front and rear sides of the pair of guide rollers as viewed in the direction of advance. The two carriages are interconnected by a coupling plate through parallel steering shafts, and a sprocket and a motor for driving the sprocket are provided as travel driving device on one carriage for giving a traction force to a transversely central portion of the upper inner surface of the monorail. An antenna and a current collector are provided on the other carriage. A control circuit unit and a span and tilt mechanism are attached to the coupling plate with a sensor unit mounted to the span and tilt mechanism. A swing motor and a tilt motor in the span and tilt mechanism are arranged in respective dead spaces created when the span and tilt mechanism swings and tilts. A chain, a trolley line and an antenna line are laid and wired on the upper inner surface of the monorail. With such an arrangement, the degree of freedom in rail design can be increased, the robot and the monorail can be both made small in size, and therefore the applicable range of the traveling inspection robot can be enlarged.

    • A monorail vehicle support system for supporting a vehicle body along a monobeam rail having top and side running surfaces. An attachment frame is secured to opposed ends of the vehicle chassis. A single steerable load carrying wheel is supported in a vertical plane by the attachment frame for support engagement with the top running surface of the rail. A pair of side wheels, having pneumatic tires, are supported spaced-apart in parallel horizontal planes below the carrying wheel and on one side thereof for frictional engagement with one of the side running surfaces of the rail. A load arm secured at one end to an axle of the carrying wheel is provided with an air bag and a levelling system for maintaining the vehicle chassis at a substantially constant level with respect to the beam by compensating for vertical displacement of the pneumatic suspension element (airbag) caused by the load variations.

    • An apparatus for conveying articles in carrier cases between one location in a hospital to a second location is disclosed. A station with a control panel is located in each room in the hospital which is to be reached by the system. A main conveyance path including a linear induction motor extends between each station. The stations include a branch conveyance path extending from a stop position on the main conveyance path to an input/output section for inputting carrier cases into the system or receiving carrier cases sent from other locations. A transferring device is located at each stop position and transfers carrier cases from the main conveyance path to each station. The system is run by a central control unit which controls the conveyance of the carrier cases along the main conveyance path as well as transference of the articles between the main conveyance path and the station and the movement of the carrier cases at the station itself. A detector is located in each station to detect if a malfunction occurs in any of the stations and reports any malfunctions to the central control unit. If a malfunction is detected, the central control unit operatively disconnects the malfunctioning station from the rest of the system so that no carrier cases may be sent to the malfunctioning station and no carrier cases may be sent from the malfunctioning station to the rest of the system, while maintaining normal functioning of the rest of the system.

    • A lower chord electric trolley conveyor comprising a rail with an upper flange which is directly connected to a support structure. The electric trolley receives its current from a bus bar attached to the rail. The drive wheels of the trolley engage the upper side of the lower flange of the rail. Upper flanges extend from a vertical web of the rail toward both sides while a lower flange extends only toward one side. The electric trollery wraps around the lower part of the rail. It comprises counter pressure rolls in front of and behind the drive wheel. The counter pressure rolls engage the surface of the upper flange which faces the lower flange. Several support rolls engage both sides of the vertical web of the rail. The bus bar is connected to the side of the vertical web of the rail facing away from the drive wheel.

    • An overhead monorail conveyor whose inverted U-shaped rail has flanges provided with inwardly extending lower marginal portions to provide tracks for the wheels of a vehicle having an inverted U-shaped frame which surrounds a portion of the rail. The wheels are mounted on brackets which extend at a level below the marginal portions of the flanges and thereupon upwardly into the interior of the vehicle frame. The motor which drives the vehicle is mounted in the frame in the interior of the rail, the same as the conductors which supply electrical energy and the toothed rack or racks which mate with several gears driven by the motor. The interior of the rail further confines and shields other sensitive components of the conveyor, such as electric switches, proximity detectors, contacts which slide along bus bars, centering rolls for the frame of the vehicle, and devices for biasing the motor-driven gears against the toothed racks.

    • A self-propelled carriage traveling along a track, e.g. within a printing plant, carries a number of flat articles such as printing forms suspended from a common supporting bar with the aid of releasable holders gripping that bar in transversely spaced engagement positions. As the carriage passes a receiving station such as a printing press constituting the destination of one or more of these articles on one holder, a magnetic retreiver aligned with the corresponding engagement position releases the holder from the bar and lets it drop onto a transverse guide rod sloping down to an unloading point. The holder may include a locking mechanism for securing the article or articles in place during travel, an extension of this mechanism preventing the mounting of the holder on the supporting bar in an unlocked position.
