    • The present invention enables a user to develop his/her leadership skills by participating in virtual business meetings with animated characters. The animated characters are managers and/or employees who work for the user in a fictitious corporation. Utilizing real-time animation and an advanced artificial intelligence and physics system, the software program enables the user to introduce, support, and oppose ideas and characters during virtual meetings. The logic of the program is built around a novel three-to-one leadership methodology. The user may participate in a number of meetingsnulleach meeting configured to build upon the prior meeting. The user's progress is measured by metrics that graph various aspects of the user's and the animated characters' activity during each meeting based upon the three-to-one leadership methodology and provide a story-line continuation based upon the outcome of each meeting.

    • A distributed intelligence conferencing system having a plurality of conferencing nodes to connect groups of participants to a conference. Each of the conferencing nodes provides for the connection of one or more participants to the conference. Each node includes a DSP for distributed signal processing. The nodes DSP includes: A signal measuring device for measuring features of the signals from each of the participants. A single core speaker tracking algorithm identifies the active speaker on a local node based upon the relative signal features of each of the number of participant input signals. A communication device communicates the measured signal features for the active local participant input signals only to all other conferencing nodes. A multi core speaker tracking algorithm compares the features of the signals from the speakers on the local node with the features of the signals from the speakers on other nodes. A final determination is made to identify the active speakers for the entire conference so that only the signals from a limited number of speakers transmitted across the system bus.

In a Turbo MUD environment in which the output of the MUD is coupled back to the MUD through an error correction system, the output of the error correction is thresholded such that those bit estimates having probabilities or estimates greater than a predetermined threshold are assigned a quantized value and are eliminated from further processing by the MUD. For certain low-complexity processing Turbo MUDs there can be as much of a reduction as one-third in processing time, whereas for full MUD processing, the reduction in processing time can be as much as {fraction (1/30)}th.
