    • A recording sheet conveyor apparatus is incorporated in an image recording apparatus having a recording sheet housing to house recording sheets, an information recording device to record image information on the moving recording sheet that has been drawn out of the recording sheet housing, and a sheet receiving device to receive the discharged recording sheet after image information has been recorded to them. The conveyor apparatus includes a conveyor path between the recording sheet housing and the sheet receiving device, a main roller for feeding a recording sheet at a predetermined speed, a feed roller for feeding the recording sheet in the direction of the main roller, a discharge roller for feeding a recording sheet to the sheet receiving device after recording has been performed for it, and a roller drive prohibit device to prohibit at least one of the feed rollers and the discharge roller in the range of the recording sheet fed by the main roller from being driven while the information recording device is performing recording.

    • Apparatus for selecting and feeding web material (F1, F2, F3) from a plurality of supply bobbins (B1, B2, B3) of web material having different characteristics, comprising a selecting and dispensing device arranged on a slide (7) horizontally movable to and fro with respect to a feeder conveyor (T) which finally feeds the film to the packaging station (P) of the packaging machine. The operative engagement between the draw-and-guide units (A1, A2, A3) is obtained by opening the feeding conveyor (T) which consist of a superposed belts conveyor (101, 201) and pinch rollers (R1, R2) and inserting therebetween the forward portion (118, 218, 318) of the draw-and-guide unit. The opening of the feeding conveyor is promoted by the movement of the draw-and-guide unit which carries a roller or opening pin (37) which acts on a shaped plate (3) carrying the upper run (101) of the belt conveyor. Upon engagement of the draw-and-guide unit (A1, A2, A3) with the feeding conveyor (T), there takes place also the operative engagement of a driving wheel (38) arranged on the feeding conveyor (T) with a driven wheel (31) arranged on the draw-and-guide unit, which transmits the drive to the draw wheels (21, 121-22, 122) of the draw-and-guide unit.

    • A recorder or printer device including apparatus for threading a continuous web of printable material from a supply through a main drive nip, including a main drive nip formed by a drive surface of a rotatable roll and a main presser which urges the web against the roll, a loop-introducing guide surface arranged relative to the drive surface of the roll, to form a convergent channel leading to the drive nip, and an initial presser for urging the web against the roll at an initial drive nip spaced from the main drive nip. In its nip position, the initial presser and the loop introducing guide surface are cooperatively constructed and arranged with respect to the roll in the manner that rotation of the roll causes retrograde motion of the leader to form a loop that is progressively guided toward the main nip until the main nip becomes effective to drive the web; and further rotation of the roll is effective to move the free end of the leader portion out from under the initial nip and through the main nip, the main nip thereafter, being effective to feed the web through the machine as a single layer.

    • Apparatus is described for moving a sheet to be machined in a step-by-step fashion. A continuously running machine, illustratively in the form of a printer, is disposed at a machine station. A motor drives a sheet mover to move the sheet in a first direction and in a second, opposite direction along a path past the machine station. The motor is selectively energized by a motor controller operating sequentially in a first mode to energize the motor whereby the sheet mover accelerates the sheet from a rest condition, in a second mode to energize the motor whereby the sheet is moved in the first direction synchronously with respect to the continuously running machine, while the continuously running machine machines the sheet, in a third mode to energize the motor to deaccelerate the sheet to rest condition, and before the next first mode, in a fourth mode to energize the motor, whereby the sheet mover moves the sheet in a second opposite direction a distance substantially equal to a sum of the distances that the sheet is moved during the first and third modes.

    • A system of forming and manipulating primary cell separator basket preforms produced in strip form and tandem relationship with a dentent associated with each preform, e.g., a transverse slit in the strip for each preform displaced so its edge is outstanding from the generally flat strip. Further restraint of the preform motion along the mandrel insertion path is provided by a support across that path which is displaced by mandrel advance toward a cell subassembly adapted to receive the separator basket.
